I've now got my Netgear Router, is there a "best practice" way of making the VF router just a modem and using the netgear for everything? I run a lot of stuff that needs port forwarding and stuff so I'm hoping this is going to be ok...

Jabba
Hope to do the same.
More so because I currently have seperate router & modem. Router is upstairs with everything wired into it.
If I can't setup my netgear as AP I'll swap it out for an ethernet switch.

I can confirm that on my setup, with the latest firmware I still cannot access wired devices from 5 Ghz wireless connected devices..... works ok from 2.4 Ghz wireless connected devices. So it seems this ain't fixed. I have also noted that the router memory use increases to the point where network access slow down, and I have to reboot the router, seems to be every couple of days. So none of my 5 Ghz coneected devices can connect to my Windows Server, Freenas Server or my Plex Server.

24 hours with no reboot or disconnections since absolving the router of any responsibility for DHCP, NAT etc. by connecting my router to it. Memory stays at 29% and CPU rarely ventures into double figures any more.
I only received my router last week so unless they aren't very good at stock rotation I would expect it to be a newer/current version. Hardware type reported as Huawei 963168_HUAWEIVOX25 and firmware at 5.4.8.1.291.1.30.1.6.
My network comprises of an 8-port switch with 2 PCs, 1 PS4, 1 Xbox 360 and an IPCAM plus a couple of laptops, a chromecase audio and usually 3 android phones on WIFI (some on 2.4Ghz and some on 5Ghz).
I did also get the reboots overnight at similar intervals so suspect a memory leak rather than it being able to cope with demand.
Looking forward to my call back from level 2 tech support as this has proven the line is not at fault - keeping my fingers crossed they give me authentication details as it would be nice to remove the additonal layer of complication in my current set up (as well as being better for my electricity bill and the environment).

Many thanks for the update.
I'm currently disconnecting devices to see if that helps, down to just 2 wired (PC and CCTV system)and 2 wireless (1 laptop and one panasonic DVR)but issue still occuring at the same rate.
I have raised with the VF BB team this morning and expecting to hear back from 2nd line support tomorrow.
I use the VF router as a DHCP server for the rest of my LAN and currently don't have another router to do that instead and just use the VF router as a modem/internet gateway.....nor should I need to of course at it worked perfectly well at the previous firmware release.
I don't think you'll get the username and password from them but good luck.

So monitoring shows that (in my case) my memory grows approx 10 to 12% every 30 minutes.
When it gets to around 93% the Router GUI stops responding and hosts on the LAN can't resolve DNS requests.
You can ping other hosts on the LAN via their IP addresses but you can't ping www.google.co.uk for example.
The router doesn't reboot just yet, it takes another 10 to 15 minutes where presumably the memory kept growing until it does a complete reboot.
I powered down my QNAP NAS but the router rebooted itself a couple of time over night too.
So I've just disconnected my British Gas Hive HUB and will go through various other devices trying to see if it is a spefic device or service.
