Hi AdrianST,
Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here
.
For some reason, your post appears to have appeared in a strange format so I may not be reading it correctly, if I'm not, would you be able to post it again?
From the sounds of it though, there does appear to be some sort of conflict with the VMC software. The good news is that the VMC software isn't actually needed to connect to the internet as long as your modem is picking up a network. You'll know if it's picking up a network because the light will be flashing blue or green once every second or so.
If you are picking up a network then I'd recommend using the following steps to connect via a manual dial-up connection:
-Go To Start > Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options
-Click Modems and then highlight the Huwaei Modem
-Click Properties and then Change Settings
-Click the Advanced tab and type the following into the Extra Initialisation Command field: at+cgdcont=1,"IP","pp.internet" and press OK
-Close Phone and Modem Options and then go to Network and Sharing Centre
-Create a new dial-up internet connection with the following settings:
-Phone number:*99#
-Username:web
-Password:web
-Connection Name:Vodafone Prepay
-This can then be accessed by going to Start > Connect To
Let me know how you get on
.
George
