laptop internet via mobile phone?

Hi,

New to all this....just posted this on the wrong bit of the forum - oops........!

I need an internet facility for a week in Spain - couple of hours a day, just static web pages etc. I've a Nokia E66 & was wondering if it could be used as a internet dongle with an Apple laptop whilst in Spain?

Would I need any software or can you only get that by adding some sort of tether account to my mobile contract? Or do just I plug the mobile in & go?

Also, would it be cheaper to buy a pay-as-you-go USB dongle - Could I load up a pay as you go & use that credit in Spain? Or is it charged differently?

Are USBs generally cheaper than using your mobile phone? Abroad?

Any advice gratefully recieved.

Hi gaz2,

You'll be pleased to know that this is possible :D

The easiest thing to use would be our "Via the Phone" software for Mac, which takes all of the pain out of setting your phone up as a modem. It's worth noting, however, that data roaming costs are very expensive, so I wouldn't recommend this for regular use.

Details of our Data Roaming costs can be found here- click on the "Using your laptop" tab for costs that would be incurred when using a USB modem instead. You'll see that it costs more, but you can use more data - so it's a bit of swings and roundabouts depending on your intended use :)

I trust this information helps :)
