Vodafone K3565 - MBP OSX 10.6.4 : Rev 2 connection issue

Hi

I have a Macbook Pro running 10.6.4 and am trying to connect using my USB dongle. I have installed 4.01.33.00 (15378) but this will not work and when it tries to connect it automatically hangs up. Anyone have any ideas, I have tried installing and reinstalling and also rebooting, nothing seems to improve anything.

Hi richie15,

Sorry to hear of your problems connecting using the K3565. Have you tried installing on another machine at all? If not can you give this a go and let me know how you get on?

I'm not a Mac whizz in all fairness and don;t understand what you are referring to when you mention 4.01.33.00 (15378), could you enlighten me?

I've forwarded a copy of this thread to our Mac expert and maybe he can come up with some answers for you.

If you can update me all the same that would be fab.

Cheers,

Hi Lee

Same problem on another machine, gut feel is this is a software talking to dongle issue and not a faulty dongle. I have used the dongle within the last month and whilst very slow does work.

The number 4.01.33.00 (15378) is the software version number which I downloaded from the website.

I have tried this by using the pre loaded software but while this connects it doesnt let me access the internet and just stalls.

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richie15,

Strange! Well, as a workaround, can you go to your Apple logo (top left corner) > System Preferences > Network > select the modem > tick 'Show Modem Status' option > click Connect.

Does this work? If so, please let us know.

From now on you'll also be able to easily connect via the status bar at the top of the screen - there'll be a telephone icon - just click this and then Connect for the Vodafone option.

As for why there is an incompatibility, not really sure - can you tell us what OSX version you're running on your Mac?

Let us know!

Daz

Error message after hand up is as follows

Could not open network connection.

Check that the APN, user name and password in the current connection settings are correct.
If the problem persists, please try deleting the current connection settings, and re-starting the application.

I have also tried to connect via system preferences, bubble is red and status is showing not configured, the option to connect is not available.

Final point I am using the top up and go option

Hi richie15,

Hmmm... could be a network issue... I'll get an email sent to you just in case - this will allow us to check your account info and connectivity log. Can you let us know what you have down as your APN and dialling number? It's possible that it's incorrectly configured... but it should still try to connect...

Hope to hear back from you soon,

Daz
