Vodafone Mobile Broadband - Emails That Are Sent Are Not Received

jbernie
Not applicable
I have purchased a Mobile USB Broadband PAYG dongle as I travel between here and Australia frequently.

I have followed instructions, I reckon, looked at this site for outgoing server details and a summary is as follows :

  • internet working fine
  • my incoming server set as always to my own server

    • receive emails fine

  • my outgoing server set to send.vodafone.net

    • test on tools menu shows both incoming and outgoing working okay

  • Authentication turned off, when turned on, I get a send error
  • Emails appear to be sent okay but the problem is they do not get received
  • I have several emails that I can check this on and they definitely do not get received.

Any ideas please. many thanks

Try signing up at <> which appears to be routed via Germany but works
ok for few emails I send via mobile.

When I signed up the form demanded type of mobile phone and doesn't include dongles in list so
I just selected one. After that I used the suggested settings for outgoing mailserver and several test
emails were delivered immediately. It also works from my Orange mobile connection.

When I last tried "send.vodafone.net" it was so overloaded that after several weeks from it accepting
emails for delivery there hadn't even been a single connection attempt to the destination mailserver.
Reason for being overloaded is that send.vodafone.net appears to be permanently on spam/virus
blocklists so many sites either refuse connections (in which case there should be a non delivery
report from send.vodafone.net) or sites accept the mail and either delete or direct to spam folders.

Many thanks.

I have setup on 360.com and added all relevant details into my email setup and it works fine now. Got details from other posts also in regards to SSL settings.

I do note though that as I use 3 email accounts and so far I have only setup my main email on 360.com. Looks like I need to setup each email account on 360.com. Is this correct so that all three will work easily.

Regards.

Hi jbernie,

I'm glad to see you've gotten this working :)

There is no need to add all of your email accounts to the 360 service unless you actually want to see you emails on the 360 website. Just by having a 360 username and password, you'll be able to replace send.vodafone.net on your phone's email settings with smtp.360.com and that will allow you to send emails as normal :)

I think it will depend on whatever email client you use.. I need to setup a 360.com for each of my mail
addresses so have to select between "address-a via 360.com", "address-a via mydomain",
"address-b via 360.com", "address-b via mydomain", which isn't how I'd like it to be, I'd rather
have email address and server selection separate.
