Solution

Vodafone Mobileconnect

Not applicable
Hi - I am currently using a Huawei USB Mobile Broadband with the latest version of the Vodafone mobile connect software. This all worked fine for around six months, but all of a sudden has completely stopped working.

Whenever I boot up my machine (Windows XP Pro) or try to start the software, I get the error message "MobileConnect has encountered a problem and needs to close" - from a little digging around, I found that the issue could be caused by a corrupt version of Microsoft .NET Framework.

This in mind, I un-installed all versions of .NET framework and installed them again (from v1.1 to v3.5, including service packs)

Unfortunately this has made no difference at all - does anyone have any idea as to what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Cheers

Benny

Hi benny
Welcome to the eForum :)

Difficult to know where to start with this as you have done the .NET uninstall / reinstall.
If below is what happened and how you uninstalled / reimstalled .NET, then I am a bit stumped.

Please have a closer look at this Microsoft KB article . Did you get the error message?

You have to download and install the Windows installer Cleanup Utility, to uninstall and to reinstall the .NET framework, as described in the article step by step.
Once .NET framework 2.0 is uninstalled you can install .Net framework 3.5 which includes .NET 2.0.

Let me know how it goes please,

Albert
