Hi all,
I have had my Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 for about 6 months and it's been great until yesterday. The battery was at 85%, it then shut down and took about 30 minutes of continuously pressing the power button to finally power up. Once it had, the battery had dropped to 12%. It did the same today, and it's now struggling to recharge (I've tried different chargers etc). It evenually started to charge after 20 minutes of trying. If I try to restart it, it takes ages to restart, sometimes completely failing to do so.
The OS is 5.0.2

Hi
I would suggest to make a back up of the phones information in its storage and then perform a factory reset.
If that does not help them seek assistance from Vodafones repair policy.
How long have you owned it.
Vodafone apply a 24 month warranty.

I assume it's not been dropped or had water damage.

I've tried reseting, but the phone won't reset. It's says it shutting down for at least 10 minutes, then goes to a black, but lit screen. I hold down the power button for 15 seconds and it restarts the phone. However, it has not reset.

Is it the same if you try to Hard Reset as described here in method 2

I've tried the hard reset but as soon as I try to select any option it goes out the menu and continues the start up process. I've upgraded to the latest OS system, and I still have the same issue. It appears that it recharges when it's turned off as well. Any other options? Or is it a trip to the vodafone shop?

Sorry to hear the self help troubleshooting isn't helping.
Yes i would at this stage visit the Vodafone shop and if they can't remedy the issue they'll send it away.
Before visiting the store.
Please create a backup of your stored information in the phones storage.
Take Time / Date stamped pictures of the device to show the condition you sent it back in ,and one of it turned on. This is to show its condition prior to sending it off. Ask the store employee to note its condition on their system.

Apologies if this is an obvious question, but I assume you're doing all this with the charger connected?
I've seen phones behave very oddly if they've shut down due to low power - or a complete power loss. In that case, it's sometimes necessary to leave the charger plugged in for up to 24 hours to get them charging properly. In one case, I was able to restart and shut down once the charger was in and everything was fine after that.

As you have only had the phone for 6 months and providing you have not caused any damage to the phone it should be covered under Vodafone's warranty. Some warranties exclude batteries so it is worth checking the terms of the warranty that you have.
If you decide to avail yourself of the warranty you are best off taking it into a Vodafone store and asking them to inspect the phone and note its condition on the work receipt you will receive.
There have been reports that customers have handed in phones only for them to be told later that there will be a charge owing to damage that they dispute was not there when the phone was handed in.
