Hello.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which also comes with the Vodafone Updates built in.
However, almost 2-3 times every day when using a certain app, I get an error message that says 'Unfortunately Vodafone Updates has stopped'.
Do you know if there is a fix for this as the last thing I want to do is uninstall the Updates app.
Many thanks,
Christopher

But clearing the notification does not stop it from reappearing again and again which is the annoying part.
I know, but this has only happen to me a few times so I'm happy to do this.
Have you thought about doing a factory reset?

Ok I'm glad I found this because this is the same problem with mine and I've had two Galaxy S4's in the space of a week with the exact same problem where it stops responding and freezes the phone.
Please do not do factory resets as that doesnt do anything other than waste your time setting up your phone again. I've tried disabling the related apps but theyre back again as soon as you restart your phone.
I'm on the phone with Vodafone technical support at the moment who are an absolute waste of time.
Another fine example of useless bloatware
Edited to add:
They went to a different technical support department and first asked me to force stop the application etc, I mentioned I had done this already but as soon as you restart the phone, it just re-appears again. They said that Vodafone have recently launched a new service where there is a technical person in each Vodafone store. I should be able to take my handset in to a store and the techinician there should be able to restore the software to one where the application (Vodafone Updates) isn't on there, I said are you sure they won't just do a factory reset? They said no, they have the capability of putting a none branded Vodafone ROM on to the handset...
I cannot personally see them offering this but if that's what they said, I will go into a store and see what they say and update back.

@Andrew wrote:Hi t11rmh and Chris,
This is very unusual.
Try selecting Settings > More > Application manager > All > Discover > Force stop.
We’ve seen instances where this has stopped the error messages from appearing.
Give this a go and let me know how you go on.
Thanks,
Andrew
Andrew can you please speak to James and Lee on this as he is looking into this error.
a Force stop will stop the error until the app starts again
The app is sett to run in the back ground and a force stop will make the app unstable and possibly cause further issues
Android stops apps as and when is needed but App can stop this from happerning
the only way to stop the error for now until Vodafone fix this is to Dissable the App
this does not effect the running of the phone

Hi Guys,
Our support teams are asking for a few examples of phone and mobile numbers.
Please can I ask for a few of you in this thread with the issue to drop me a PM with this information so I can pass it onto them?
Please can you also upload a new screenshot of the error to the eForum thread or send it to me via PM?
James
