Vodafone connect router DHCP settings

I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.

I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

Hmm.  Maybe it's on an exchange-by-exchange basis?

If my will to tinker is still intact after calling Vodafone this evening, I'll put your pppd config on my Raspberry Pi, plug it into the modem and see if it collects an IPv6 address.  My wife's out this eve so I won't get an ear-full if the internet's down :Smiling:

I've just spotted you spoke about 6to4.   That works well end there is nothing to do on the ISP side. Basically, every ipv4 address gets /48 subnet of ipv6 and you just need to create tunnel on your device. Perhaps your router does it automatically.

If you think of a native ipv6 from voda - there is no such thing.

What they charge for IPV6???

no, they don't offer it at all.

I used to get /64 subnet with BT infinity and about 20% of my traffic was going through IPV6...

Is using the hg612 modem to do the ppp connection or using a router connected to it to do the ppp connection best. Wondered if it matters which one does it?

I have the hg612 doing the ppp and dhcp server then router connected as a switch to it

Performance-wise I think either is fine. Personally, I like the HG612 being a dumb modem. I've thought of setting up the HG to do the PPPoE login itself, but my current setup had been fine for 4+ years and couldn't see what I'd gain.

Cheers,
Chris

Anyone been given their username and password recently? I tried both LiveChat and 191 today and they both refused. They say there's no chance anyone will give it me no matter who I speak to. It's policy and they are investigating why people on this forum have been given details when they shouldn't have been.

You need to tell them you take full responsibility you don't expect support and blah blah blah.
I just signed up going live on 21st sales agent via chat told me i could use my own router as i work in IT and it's essential any rubbish from support i show them the transcript and cancel and get my money back including installation and router fees

One of the reasons I done it via chat was i wanted to have it recorded so any bs from Vodafone I cancel immediately

So, my first 24hrs of connectivity has seen a drop in sync speed.

With Talk Talk and BT before that my line would stablise at around 75mb.

The Vodafone connection is already down to 72.3mb.

I know, training time - but I'm now wondering if bringing the old Openreach modem back into the configuration and using the Vodafone router as a router alone might be the best bet - before DLM ruins this line from the off.

How would I go about cablling the Openreach white modem into the configuration so that the Vodafone router uses that instead of its internal modem?
