I was a brief customer of Vodafone 18 months ago but unfortunately due to lack of signal in my work place, where I need the use of my mobile, I had to leave. It took a few weeks of phone calls to get this sorted and in that time I occurred a months bill. As good will this was being cleared and my account was closed.
This past month my husband and I have applied for a mortgage and that's when I discovered I have a poor credit score. I have a default on my account from Vodafone for the small amount of £18 that I was never aware I owed after the contract had been cancelled. As soon as this was discovered I paid the amount.

I've never had any marks on my credit rating and one for such a small amount is having a massive impact on myself

I have emailed Vodafone twice with no reply. I really don't know where to go from here to get this removed from my credit file

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello @lucy1983bella and @hossy

I understand your frustration at this, our apologies.

@lucy1983bella please be patient, a member of our team will reply to your emails as soon as possible.

@hossy I have sent you a Private Message this afternoon with further help.

Louise

Hello @Louise_E, I haven't received a private message from you. However, I have received a standard email from you simply saying : "Louise_E (Tech Team) mentioned you in a post! Join the conversation below. " Perhaps you would send it again.

Hello again Louise_E, You don't need to send me another private message as I found your private message which was in my Spam Folder. Thank you. You have asked me to contact a certain team but with all due respect I think it is highly likely that it would result in yet another wastage of my time and cause further stress I have already spoken to every department within Vodafone. I have even gone to the highest level (CEO's office) but to no avail. I have absolutely no faith in Vodafone any more.

Hello @lucy1983bella, Glad to hear that you have been promised that the default will be removed from your file. However, I believe you don't have to wait for 30 days , especially as you're applying for a mortgage. You can ask for it to be done within 24 /48 hours. The TV programme I mentioned before reliably informed viewers that they had a right to ask for a correction to be made by the company concerned (NOT the Credit Reference Agency- CRA) by a special update within 24/48 hours. There is a jargon for this special correction but I can't remember it. Also, make sure you talk to the right people - Vodafone has a special team for credit file matters. Don't rely on a random call centre agent you speak to. I'm pretty sure that you are not able to reply to the email you've received as Vodafone don't like to give customers an opportunity to put things in writing! Lastly, make sure you get a copy of your credit reports from all three main CRAs to ensure the entry has been taken off with no trace. Please update everyone for future reference.

Thank you...
I received an email this morning confirming that the default will be removed in 30 days
I really think anyone with issues is best to write on this forum as it seems to get results!
Thanks for everyone's help!

Hi @lucy1983bella

Thank you for letting us know the outcome of speaking with our team.

I'm relieved to hear this has been investigated for you.

Hello @hossy

I understand your worry at this, however, I can assure you that emailing our team through the link I have sent you through Private Message is the best way to have this investigated.

Louise

@Louise_E can you please contact me urgently as well regarding this matter, as I am getting no joy with emails, phone calls or live chat and it is getting ridiculous now. If I do not hear from you urgently then I will go to the ombudsman. Thanks

OK thanks for your advise I will check all!
30 days is fine, will keep a close eye! Be glad to have no more phone calls or emails to send!

If they don't retificy this and it is inaccurate, then Vodafone are probably commiting an offence under the 1988 Data Protection Act Namely Principle

4, which states "Personal data shall be accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date."

If it's not resolved your can report them to the ICO Information Commissioner's Office who deal with DPA breaches.
