Why can't I text my friend? I can call her, she's on lebara, it seems so ridiculous. She hasn't barred me, or anything else daft. We've checked everything we can. What is this all about? Were both in tn34.

Hi

If you haven't accidentally blocked each other within the phones text blocking facility (handset dependant) their shouldn't be a reason why you can't text.

Its worth you both speaking to both sets of Customer services just to ensure nothing is evident on your accounts.

Lebara have a habit of issuing numbers that look like UK mobile numbers but are actually from the Isle of Man and that's outside of the UK.

Check out the dialling code and see where that number originated. If it's an overseas number (The Isle of Man is overseas for these purposes) that might be the problem,

Thanks. Done that and 07990 is a mobile number.

Have a look at your online account (My Vodafone in the red banner above).  If you're on the new billing system, you can look at the various bars for yourself - when the main screen comes up, click the Manage button by your number, then Manage Services in the menu on the left and, finally, Bars.

There's an all-encompassing SMS bar but, if you can text other people, it's not that.   There are various overseas options, though and, if the number does indeed come up as IOM, one of them may be catching it.

Thanks. I can text absolutely everybody else, and can't get any support from Vodafone. Dammit it making me so cross!

I can only think it was ported to Lebara (assuming you can do that).

Thanks, chance would be a fine thing. No chat available on this tablet. She can text me OK. Am getting so fed up with the amount of time I'm having to spend sorting loads of problems with voda...
