locked blackberry

Hi, I've been given a used Blackberry curve 9320, when I put my vodaphone sim card in it won't recognise it, says the blackberry is locked. Is there anyway I can unlock it ithout going to a shop as they are miles away?  I'd be very grateful for any suggestions. Would a new sim card work in it, but I don't really want to lose all that's on my present card. Thanks

Hi, if its locked you need to get the person who gave it to you to contact the network its locked too and ask them to unlock it.
