hi, can somebody please-please help me, ive put the dongle in my laptop and it starts by saying found new hardware then found new mass storage device and then found cd drive. it then says that there was a problem with them and they might not work properly.
once all these have done installshield wizard starts, then another box comes up saying installing vodafone mobile connect lite, that installs fine - right up to the part where it says starting services- when it gets to this part another box comes up on my screen saying that vmcservice.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close, after this it starts a rolling back action which takes everything off which has just been put on and thats as far as i can get with it, can you please help me to get past this problem, thankyou, steve.

Hi Steve-larvin and welcome to the eForum

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with this. I can totally appreciate how frustrating this must be for you.

I can't imagine why you are having this particular problem but one work around to this would be to download the full version of Vodafone Mobile Connect for the website - Vodafone Mobile Connect

Once you have downloaded this try again. If you don't have an internet connection then you'll need to find another means of getting the program over to your PC. (Perhaps download it on another machine then transfer the program across via USB stick.)

Please let me know how you get on with this and if you have any more questions just give me a shout

Thanks

Wayne

Hi steve-larkin,

This is a strange one - it's not like we're able to see a VMC-specific error as it's not even installing.

The fact that you're getting to the same point every time by both methods suggests that the issue is something on the machine - not a major issue you have to worry about, but possibly that you've clicked through a different error once and now it blocks things without repeating the more specific message because whatever caused the issue is still getting in the way.

One that our tech boys hve suggested sounds likely is that you initially got an error 2738 which stated that the installation failed with the message "Could not access VBScript run time for custom action". If this sounds familiar then we're on the right track!

As long as you're not on Windows 7, there is a fix - Can you try the following for me on your PC:

1. Run Command Prompt on the PC as administrator
1.1 Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories
1.2 Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
2. Type cd %windir%\system32 into the Command Prompt and hit Enter
3. Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll into the Command Prompt and hit Enter

This registers the VBScript engine and allows the software to work.

Let us know how you get on!

hi dave, i cant remember what it said when it first did it, but i tried what you said anyway, i did the first one and it came up with this message:-

"the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"

i then tried the second one and it came up with this message:-

'regsvr32vbscript.dll' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

have you got anymore suggestions please?

thanks- steve.

Hello Steve-Larvin

Thanks for getting back to us; I see this problem continues to persist :(

Can you confirm which version of VMC you downloaded as we've recently had an update to the application, you may have downloaded VMC. 9.4.5, we are now on VMC 9.4.6.

Also can you make sure that when you install VMC you have fully uninstalled prior versions (including VMC Lite) and rebooted your computer, once 9.4.6 is installed you should ignore the VMC Lite messages that pop up when you insert the modem.

Please get back to me as soon as you can and I'll continue to trouble shoot this.

Thanks

With this in mind I'm going to send an email over to the email address you have registered with. Once you receive this all you need to do is fill in all of the information it asks for and send it back to us. We'll then get back to you as soon as we possibly can to go through a few fixes and get this up and running for you :)

Thanks
