Had the smart ultra 6 handset for about 10 months now and really quite like it, however recently i can be doing things on the phone and it returns to the home screen as if i have pressed the button, it vibrates and the buton lights up aswell. at first it happend once every half hour or so which isnt that bad, but now it does it every other second when the phone is unlocked meaning the phone is virtually unusable.

i really have no idea whats going on, so any help would be appreciated

Hi there

It could be a hardware issue or a problem with a particular app not playing nice.  Have you done a factory reset of the device?  This is a really good place to start as it will completely wipe the device and remove all apps and data.  Do remember to back up the device before you do this so that you don't lose your personal data.

To factory reset the device, firstly, turn it off.  Then:

  • Press and hold the Volume up key and the power button.
  • The phone will turn on
  • Keep holding these keys until you see the Android logo
  • Press the power key to enter recovery mode
  • Use the volume keys to scroll to wipe data / factory reset and then use the power button to select

If the phone is still playing up after the reset, it would indicate that the issue is possibly hardware related.  The device is covered by a 24 month warranty and you will be able to drop your phone off at your nearest Vodafone Store to send it off for repair.

Morning

As the problem persists after a factory reset, it would indicate that it is hardware related.  If you have bought it through a third party, you will need to arrange a repair / replacement directly with them.  Hopefully they will be able to get things sorted for you pretty quickly.

Hi @aw1995

You mention the phone was purchased through a third party site, can you please let us know the site where you made the purchase?

Did you purchase as new or secondhand?

With the Ultra 6 being a Vodafone exclusive, although available through outlets such as Carphone Warehouse with a Vodafone SIM, the phone is sold direct from Vodafone.

If the phone was purchased as used, the warranty and proof of purchase will be with the original owner and this means you are going to need to contact the seller or site where you made the purchase.

Hi @aw1995

I'm not 100% sure but as you own a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 I would have thought under the 24 month manufacturing warranty applied by them you should be able to approach a Vodafone Highstreet Store and have it sent away.

Id advise to pop in and ask or liaise with customer service on 191.

Would you let us know what they say.

ive been to my local store this morning, as it was bought through a third party (mobilephonesdirect.co.uk) the repair would have to be through them, or £66 through vodafone, as far as i am aware the phone was new when bought. mobilephonesdirect.co.uk are being quite awkward with us as we are trying to get another phone repaired and they havent replyed to emails for over 3 weeks so as the ultra 6 is £99 and the ultra 7 is £135 i think i might just buy a replacement
