The very fact that I don't work for Vodafone in any capacity allows me to say things that Vodafone employees could not and do not say.
I would have to agree with GreenLantern, you have quasi-official status with all the image blocks around your posts and "CC" next to your name and a large "Community Champion" tag under your post.
You should perhaps add a prominent disclaimer under every post that you are in no way connected to Vodafone as your previous reply was rude and should make the actual staff of Vodafone quite embarrassed that someone they appointed as "Community Champion" had the temerity and lack of respect to answer a paying customer asking valid questions about the poor way Vodafone have implemented WifiCalling when compared to EE.
In fact, I think I will email the CEOs office with a link to this thread and enquire if it is Vodafone policy to allow their appointed Champions to reply to concerned customers in the way you have.
Hopefully someone who really does work at Vodafone will have more of an idea regarding customer service and will reply to the questions posed by GreenLantern, it is about time Vodafone explained exactly what is happening with WifiCalling and when it will be correctly implemented.

Temerity and lack of respect? I'm a paying customer with four contracts and it is absolutely crystal clear that I am a customer and I have no connection whatsoever to the network in any other capacity than as a customer. I am not a customer services person and I do not act like one.
Vodafone personnel are very clearly identified here by the Vodafone logo next to their name.
So let me make it clear in case it's still not clear enough.
It is also made very clear that Vodafone itself does not respond on threads like this.
I hope this clears up any confusion in your mind.

- I speak for myself alone and no one else.
- I don't have any inside knowledge about Vodafone or its policies. Anything I say is my opinion gleaned from my own experience and information already in the public domain.
- I do not have any official sanction from the network nor do I want one.
- I don't follow any vodafone policies and I do not represent them in any way.
- I can say what I like here, as can anyone else, as long as I follow the house rules.
It is also made very clear that Vodafone itself does not respond on threads like this.

So, if you don't speak for Vodafone, why did you make a very clear and unambiguous reply to GreenLantern about what Vodafone wouldn't do? Why did you answer with a definite statement of what Vodafone won't do? After all, as you now say, you are only a customer so what gives you the right to tell him the following?
Quote:
As to your questions, you won't get any answers. The company is not going to justify its business decisions to you or me or any customer. We either accept and use the service they provide or we don't and move on.
It's up to Vodafone to answer, and not for any "community champion" to speak to customers as you did.
I say again, you should add a prominent disclaimer under your posts in the very large box proclaiming yourself as "Community Champion". A disclaimer that is as prominent as your status awarded to you by Vodafone. Many will see you as the Vodafone spokesman, especially with your manner of posting.

I think the clue is in the name... "community" ie from the community and not Vodafone. It doesn't state "Vodafone" or "Tech Team". In fact, all Vodafone employees state "I am part of the Vodafone Tech Team" and have Vodafone branding in their signature. Therefore, by process of elimination, anyone that doesn't have that is clearly not a Vodafone employee.

Hi
I'm new here.
Can anyone tell me why after 15 odd years Vodafone have got virtually no 3G in South Devon? Also why does the coverage map show 2G as 3G, almost as if Vodafone are embarrased about it?
EE appear to be lighting up 4G mast after 4G mast nearly weekly here but all Vodafone have done is turned on 1 telegraph pole mast in Kingsbridge in the last 12 months. Are we to get one mast every 12 months? That will take a while won't it?
I think this is bad enough but surely the person who decided that WiFi calling would go live with no SMS support should be fired shouldn't they?
I was waiting for WiFi calling for years, having it with no SMS would be more annoying than not having it at all.
Do Vodafone have plans to actually compete with EE any time soon?
Might be nice to have competition between providers.
Just a thought.
Thanks.

Hi @devonbloke
Vodafone customer service will not reply officially here.
All I can tell you is that the network is continuing daily to invest in the infrastructure and are currently mast sharing with o2. They share masts but not actual mast equipment.
Vodafone as you correctly say do not at present offer sms support but as the service is in its infancy it could become available some time in the future. Vodafone also offer the Sure Signal Device at a one off cost.
Im sure you probably already aware of most of this but I felt it warranted to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

Thanks Lee
Very helpful.
I just hope they pull their finger out soon or it's going to be game over.
Perhaps you have the power somehow to let them know that we feel kind of forgotten down here. It's like we don't exist or something.
I feel Vodafone are the only other network that could challenge EE really.
O2 have no spectrum and Three patently have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I'm not sure if they're running a mobile network or a comedy club.
Lets hope we see some action down here soon then.
Yes and let's get SMS on WiFi calling please. It can be done, I believe EE do it and it works well.
Cheers

It is very poor that there are still a lot of areas that remain with little or no signal. The more rural areas of the country suffer the worst because of population densities. Devon, Cornwall and Norfolk come to mind as prime examples of this and it's because they don't have large areas of conurbation (except perhaps Norwich in the case of Norfolk).
Business economics determine that it isn't currently a priority for Vodafone to invest in areas of low population density and until the regulator changes the parameters of the licences so that 98% of the country rather than 98% of the population not a lot is going to change. That's the harsh truth - I wish it were different.
