Activation experience - all good and very pleased so far

Had my Openreach engineer visit to install a new line on Wednesday. No problems at all other than not installing a proper master socket with the built in filter - he took my old one away I'd installed 15 years ago but no worries, I'll get a new one and install it myself, don't like those dangly filters.

I got a guarantee of 37Mbps and I'm actually syncing at 62 so well pleased with that.

The router is pretty good and is outperforming the old Virgin one as regards wireless signal strength in various upstairs rooms which is great.

Downside is not being able to change what channels I'm using via the router admin interface, seems like this is an old complaint so I don't expect Vodafone to change it back any time soon. Luckily I don't have much overlap with the neighbours so should be OK there. Also can't get rid of devices that have reconnected for whatever reason, my iPhone and iPad have several entries under offline devices already down to ios now using random mac addresses.

After going through the rigmarole of not being able to activate my account until live even though I got an email saying I could and another email saying my bill would be higher than the monthly cost I signed up for - that seems to be sorted now as well. Got my DD date changed to something that suits me better as well.

All in all it's been just fine so far and hopefully it'll stay that way - a big saving over Virgin and even though the speed is nearly half it's still good - and ping times are way better than Virgin too.

Always nice to hear of positive feedback, the forum is mostly negative. (but that is the way with help forums)

I had an Openreach engineer replace my master socket soon after I joined and he was about to fit a standard socket, so I said "Oh, don't I get a filtered socket?" and he says "would you like one", and went to the van and got me one.
