Massive delays activating and some unknown fault with OpenReach?

It seems I jumped into bed with Vodafone too soon. Has anyone actually had a good experience?

Broadband was supposed to go live on 21st December, in-time for Xmas as the kids had Tablets as their main present from us this year. 21st came and went without any updates so I chased them up. I was told it was a fault with Open Reach, and it would '100% go live on 23rd'.

On the 23rd, yet again no engineer turns up so I contact Vodafone again and now I'm told it's going to be 28th, due to this unknown fault. I did ask what the issue was, but they didn't seem to be able to tell me. Come 28th, as you might have guessed, we're then told it's an on-going fault and we won't have internet until 11th January.

We actually this time did get texts from OpenReach and they even asked us to respond to confirm the appointment which was encouraging so, on 11th, I stayed in all day only to find nobody bothered turning up. Back onto Vodafone, 'an on-going fault' is blamed, and we're given the 16th Jan as the new connection date. I've chased that again today (it's the 15th, and I've had no texts etc) and I'm told it's going to be later than this but tomorrow I can get an update from OpenReach.....

I'm starting to doubt I'll ever get online. Am I alone with this sort of sh***y experience? I can't stand another canned reply about 'I would feel frustrated if it was me' from some Tobi bot thing.

Would love to know if anyone else has had any joy, and whether or not they actually applied your automatic compensation. I'm up to nearly £200 now...

Yes there are a few horror stories about getting FTTP up and running with Openreach on here. If it's really all Openreach's problems I'm not sure, I do wonder if other ISPs (especially the one who have the same owner as Openreach (BT)) have the same problems.

Are you without broadband completely, did you not keep the old provider until the FTTP was working?

I believe the compensation is capped at 60 days,

Automatic compensation: What you need to know - Ofcom

Thanks for the reply, it's appreciated. It's not even full fibre we're trying to install - just standard broadband. We've today been given the new date of next Monday 23rd, but I have zero confidence they'll actually do it..

Do you not already have a BT/Openreach phone socket?
