Blocked Internet Access for my home alarm - was working, now it isn't - what could be the problem?

Help! My home Ajax Systems Intruder Alarm is no longer connecting to the Internet. Everything has been fine and working well, using a Vodafone VCNT-1 running s/w 19.4.0551-3261103.

We noticed the alarm system had switched to communicating via the inbuilt SIM card 2-weeks ago.

Since then, we have had to try 2 x new Ajax Hub 2 panels and Vodafone have replaced the router. Still its not communicating via the Internet, only through its inbuilt SIM, which is at additional cost to us.

All other devices in our house have Internet access okay - so why has this happened?

To test this, we connected the Ajax alarm to a friends router or a different ISP, perfect Internet connection, absolutely no issues, able to fukllty access the Ajax alarm system.

Plugged back into our home Vodafone router, no internet connection, no comms.

The Vodafone router appears to be blocking the Ajax alarm system from accessing the Internet. We have set the alarm to DHCP, still can't access an open port or internet. Everything was working fine. now it isn't. Something at Vodafone has changed recently and its causing us massive issues in connecting our Ajax alarm - its made the whole system redundant/useless at a huge cost to us.

Come on Vodafone, help us out here.....

How can I set up a port or open the Vodafone Router to let my Ajax system talk to the internet once again, as it was working perfectly well over the past 8-months or so, with no internet access issues???

Yes it worked perfectly for about 6 months  until about a fortnight ago…..It may be a wild guess but I’m thinking maybe Vodafone has been hacked by Russia and is blocking a high profile Ukrainian manufactured product on a major european comms network!!!!

Well…. After spending hours trying to connect a third party modem/router (TP-Link) I gave up!  Couldn't find a VPI and VCI that worked…. Vodafone not listed on TP-Link set up website  and Vodafone don’t publish the settings anywhere. Others on this forum have had similar difficulties and I tried a number of combinations that apparently worked for them but they didn’t work for me!!!! So I still have an alarm system that is being blocked by Vodafone …….

VPI and VCI are not used by VDSL connections, so if there is an issue changing them will do nothing!  While most router/modems will autoselect the connection type, there are still some TP-Link devices that are ADSL only, which will not work with Vodafone VDSL connections!

Thank you for this…. Interesting that whilst  the TP-Link router /modem claims to be both ADSL and VDSL compatible the setup procedure wouldn’t allow one to move past VPI / VCI input page….. the router is AC2100 running Archer VR600 v3 software.

Not a bad little modem router, and they certainly do VDSL2, I've set a couple up.

I guess vodafone did give you your password in the following format:

Yes I did manage to get my username and password after 40 mins on vodafone chat ! The agent eas clearly briefed to make it difficult as possible with 5 minute gaps of silence when she was “getting the data on her screen” ….. luckily I tiok a screen shot when she finally gave me the username and password….. this information was redacted on the print of the chat that was emailed to me ……

Strange, when I got mine it was very quick on live chat (after wasting ages trying to use social media)

My transcript included everything they said, but didn't have my comments, which I thought odd.

I cannot believe that a mod has removed the username password image that I posted that in Leet read "not my pass" and the username was LITERALLY 1234567890!  No wonder we have problems!

.@CrimsonLiar or should I call you "1234567890!" from now on? I think that this is one of the best posts for ages, well at least for cheering a damp overcast morning. 😂
