Hi. My query is that I am having Vodafone full fibre 900 broadband installed in a couple of weeks time. Do I need to have a Ethernet cable to connect from the new box that will be installed to the new router, I think it's called an ONT?! I bought an RJ11 cable but I believe this is possibly the wrong cable to connect from the ONT to the Vodafone router. I have my current BT router about 4 metres away from the BT wall socket and wish to put the new router in the same place. I think the ONT needs a power supply too?! Can someone clear up these queries please so I'm ready for install day. Thanks.

@Ripshod wrote:Yes, it's just a standard cat5 lan cable you need, the one with rj45 plugs.
Cat 5e or higher for gigabit.

I realised my faux pas when I came back to check. Now corrected.
@huggy121 while vodafone say that the ONT needs to be placed close to a socket the engineer that does the install would be happy with an extension lead. The power lead from the mains adapter is fairly long though.

The cable is an RJ45 Ethernet cable, and one will come with the router, but you might need a longer one.. RJ11 is a DSL cable and you won't need that.
Yes, the ONT will require a power socket.
