Fibre packet loss

For a good few months now, I have been experiencing packet loss at peak hours and even in the day if I download large files. I have called Vodagroan several times about this and end up speaking to people in foreign countries who I struggle to hear or understand, who go through the same thing of, "Have you turned it off and on? Have you got anything else connected? Oh, it could be the switch causing an issue. Oh, we'll do a firmware update..." They are absolutely [Removed] useless! I'm a network engineer and know for a fact all of this is absolute nonsense and won't help the fact that there is a problem externally and nothing on my LAN is having a negative affect. I'm at my wits end. I have tried to escalate this, but can't seem to speak to a complaints department or a manager. I am waiting for a call back from a manager in the next 24 hours, but I don't hold much hope. If they don't fix it this time, then I'm cancelling my direct debit - I'm sure this will get somebody's attention!

Vodafone, you really need to sort it out!!

Here is a continuous ping to the WAN address on my router which proves the issue is WAN related:

This is really quite a common problem but causes can vary. The most common problems i clude contention/congestion and poor routing. To help us see what's happening can you run a quick traceroute to bbc.com and post the results. We'll have to wait for your image to be moderated - don't hold your breath.

Packet loss not really being experienced as yet - it's mostly in the evening. I could do a pathping a bit later which would give more details.

If you're nowhere near Birmingham then you are suffering partly from Vodafone's idea of load balancing (84.65.192.1 is your gateway and is in Birmingham). Given the ping time I suspect this is part of your problem.

Can see in your BQM the packet loss you're experiencing in the evening. This is caused by congestion (read overselling) - everyone wants to game in the evening - which your routing is not helping.

Don't use the Social channels you'll undoubtably be offered by the Moderators. Take this straight to chat and let us know how you get on.

Thanks, much appreciated. I'm 89 miles from Birmingham. Is that chat any different to any other chat or calling their 'technical' team?
