Fire cube shows no internet

Hi,

My FC was working fine, went to give it a static IP, rebooted and won't connect to internet.

Checked cable all fine, shows ethernet connection but no internet.

I deleted fixed IP in router, rebooted it and FC but still no joy.

I have treble checked cable and that works fine.

Tried with RJ45 pulled out and WiFi, still same result.

192.168.1.176 is WiFi ip for fire cube.

Was that static, as on the device itself, or within the router?

If on the device, you may got something wrong, and have now turned off the DHCP. Factory reset the device, and set the fixed I.P. in the router.

It was static on router, nowvremoved

Very strange then, that shouldn't have stopped it working. I can only suggest a factory reset on both.

However if you are going to change your router tomorrow, I'd wait until you have done that and see it it works then.

Other than username and password, are they any other settings for a Fritzbox that I need?

Nothing I can think of, just about everything else will be the same for most ISP's. (assuming you are on FTTC)

Edit: If you can set the Wi-Fi SSID and password the same as the Vodafone router, you shouldn't need to reconnect all your devices.

It's definitely the router.

Just hotspotted to my O2 phone and connected straight away.

The worst thing is I've reset the static IP and it still retains the other devices, so much for setting the page to default😔

Can I reset this to factory and will retain my login details or do I need to put them in again?

If you have changed them from defaults, yes you will have to re-input them.

It is possible to save the config and re-install it. but I prefer to start again after a factory reset.

I have the default router and Wi-Fi passwords in a text document as it is quicker to copy and paste, rather than type them in. (but I do frequently factory reset whilst testing things.)

It could be the Vodafone parental controls, using a 3rd party DNS will override them.

Also you still need to save the changes, after using the set to default button.

All parentals are off, will try again.

I was actually impressed with the router until now as it proved very stable for line connection compared to my Plusnet
