Gigacube nat type restriction

Hi, I just received my gigabox and trying to hook it up to my playstation 4, it appears I've been stuck with a Nat Type 3, I've tried all the usually things like port forwarding and static IP, upon research I've seen plenty of others with this same problem with Vodaphone yet not a problem on 3, as I'm still within my timeframe to return the product I'd like to know if there will be a fix for this? I believe public ips are what is needed but according to other threads Vodaphone don't do this (yes I've changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) is this something that is going to be addressed or should I just cancel now as paying 50 pound a month for restricted gaming is far too much for me.

Any help that would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I had a wired broadband with Vodafone before and the same issue occured with the supplied router/modem. Bought my ouwn modem/router and that solved the wired broadband issue. Since my speed was terrible, I switched to the GigaCube and saw the same issue again. Bought a Raspberry Pi 4 and a NordVPN subscription. Connected the RasPi to the GigaCube with an ethernet cable and followed the 2 tutorials here: https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-nordvpn/.

Now i have linked my Xbox One to the RasPi accesspoint and have Open NAT

Hi, thinking of diong the same. Could I ask if this is this still working for you?

Thanks

I've got a new IP address using the Raspberry pi. But how do I get the Xbox to connect? I tried using ethernet but it says "cannot connect to a single IP" or something to that effect?

Are the '3' home broadband routers able to used nat type 2 and therefore suitable for PS4? TIA

I took a trial from 3 when I took my gigacube back- yes it does work for gaming

however 3 was not much better coverage than what I'm currently getting from BT so I wasn't happy being tied to contract with them either and I returned it. (3 was also considerably cheaper than the gigacube btw)

This was despite them doing prior checks on my area assuring me it would be good. So if you're rural I'd be aware of that.
I also bought an antenna from amazon to boost the signal ever so slightly.

I was really happy with my gigacube speed however after all this I'm sadly right back to square one!

My 3 coverage is fine but just to confirm you could get nat type 2 on the 3 WiFi? Thanks

Yeah, I didnt have any strict NAT issues on 3

Since we have a good 5G coverage in our area from 3 I think I am going to order this especially now you have just confirmed it's not CGNAT unlike Vodafone. Just need to find the energy to spend three days arguing with Vodafone like the person a few posts up had to do in order to be allowed out of their contract.

Has anyone managed to fix this? Just bought a 5G gigacube... This will cause a return and contract cancellation if no fix within the 14 day period...

Shocked they havent fixed this - googling this and can find threads going back years! Wonder how much £rev they've lost on this

Just had confirmation from Vodafone CS that NAT Type 3 is a "Company Policy" and "Cant be changed".

Nuts. How can a company release a Mobile WiFi product for domestic use and expect customers to keep it when it is structurally incompatible with Xbox/Playstations?

Will be triggering my 14 day cooling off period refund. Shame! A bunch of customers willing to spend £50pm on broadband (vs fixed line solutions at c.£20pm), but they go a drop the ball with something as simple as NAT type.

Unfortunately I had the misfortune of finding out about the NAT capabilities of Vodafone's mobile network after the 14 days, so it's just been me tied to a crap contract.
