Gigafast SKY Q

Hello Forum,

I have recently moved over to Gigafast fibre from BT .  I am experiencing problems connecting my Sky Q box to the Vodafone router.  I have it wired directly to the Vodafone router and its not connecting at all. I can not see it on the router GUI. I gave the sky box a static IP address but problem still persists .

I switched back to my BT hub as I still have the internet line for a further week and it works fine.  I think this is the actual router has anyone experiencing similar problems?

I have changed cable from CAT 5e to Cat6 same issue.     all other devices decides are working just this SKY box sticking issue.  I have tried wireless and again same issue I would prefer cable as my walls are pretty solid

Any advise would be appreciated.

thanks

Hi @RedCard, the router should be able to connect to the TV box on both WiFi and a hard wired connection. To help us further, can you tell us, what is the error message that you get on the screen when you're trying to connect? Mark

Hello Mark,

Thanks for comming back.  I have now resolved the issue it was a simple factory reset of the router. Very strange indeed as I have only had the router 24 hours and had not changed any settings just striaght out of the box and connected up.

if anyone has similar issues where the SKY Q box cannot connect to the router\hub wired or wireless (dhcp or Static) and everything esle has been tired, a factory reset might resolver the issue.

I did speak to someone on chat they mentioned to split the wifi SSID and add google DNS which personaly as an IT pro is misleading particulary since I was using a network cable for connection and I have the router WiFI turned off as I am using Cisco APs.

ALso note using an alternitive DNS  on the router will make your Vodafone content filter redundant.

thanks

Balal.
