I'm not sure I would recommend Vodafone, the support is atrocious. But they are relatively cheap, and I've been here for 2 years and just renewed, so it can't be all bad.
And there are helpful people on the forum, but obviously when Vodafone mess up there is not much we can do.
Most ISPs are using digital voice now, so the telephone changes will be the same. (Now don't, but they have other problems. Only 2 ethernet ports and terrible Wi-Fi)
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Okay, so a heads up! It looks like Openreach has a new "VRI" faceplate for the NTE 5c wall-wart. This new faceplate apparently feeds xDSL to the modem/router, but then allows one of the telephone ports on the modem/router to be fed back into the socket to feed the extension wiring. The extensions are isolated from the wiring the OpenReach network!
Spot the obvious problem? At the master socket, there's the xDSL feed the modem/router, and the phone feed to the wall-wart... So no ability to plug in a phone at the master socket, just at the extensions.
At the moment all I can find is the horribly long-winded tech documents and a few images of the VRI Faceplate, hopefully we'll find out more over the next few days!

Possibly you could use one of the double phone connectors.

Edit, just looked it up and they are using an RJ11 socket for the re-injection, so they won't work.
But this should:
combined with this
Or maybe they will make one with a BT and RJ11 sockets on it.

While I've been aware of SOGEA, it seems like everyone managed to keep the introduction of the VRI faceplate very quiet indeed!
