I have a HP pavillion which until today was connecting fine to my new vodafone fibre hub. But today it just will not connect. I have a TP link adapter to connect my smart switches and lamps and the laptop will connect to that BUT the speed is so much slower than it was when connecting direct. The whole point of the fibre was to increase speed and now I am getting much less. 82mbps on my iphone but only 28 on my laptop - any solutions??

Seems you're testing over WiFi (never the best option). Test with the laptop closer to the router, or with a wired connection.

I think, also, your laptop may be connecting to the 2.4GHz(?). If it's a Windows machine and it is connected to the 2.4 there is a solution. I can take you through that today as I have a windows 11 machine here for testing.

Do you know if the laptop is 2.4Ghz only or can it use 5Ghz as well?

If it's 2.4Ghz only it's possible the router has switched to channel 12 or 13 and the laptop can't see them. If that is the case then the laptop is configured incorrectly.
