So I had to wait 2 weeks for my broadband to be activated which I find very long on its own now that the date has come (11th) I got a call from the engineer saying hes done his part and the internet should be working however it is not I've seen very many people having to wait an extra 2-3 weeks after their activation date and I'm very worried that would happen to me I need someone to help me sort this out asap

So the speeds are fantastic with the test socket and works fine should I just use that or does the broken thing have to be fixed? Thanks a lot for the help though

The speeds should be the same with the faceplate back on, and it will obviously look a lot neater. The Openreach engineer would probably fit a filtered faceplate if you ask, and you could then do away with the filter.
There is no problem with running from the test socket if you wish to. Should the speed drop with the faceplate refitted, then it would mean there is a problem with the extension wiring. (if you have any).
