Openreach test socket

Hi.  I was told today to connect my wireless router to the test socket on the wall as I’m not getting my guaranteed speeds through.   The socket is an Openreach - internet top, landline bottom.  The test socket, inside, is a long flat telephone style.  As such Voda told me I need a microfilter and connect the router to the test socket.  Leaving it in place for 3 days, it would update the speeds automatically.  Great! The confusing bit is, they told me to do this using a modem cable which only connects to LAN ports, leaving the ‘internet’ cable in place (top socket) I can’t find a DSL microfilter that will take a LAN fitting? This makes no sense.  🤷🏻‍♂️

once you have a microfilter plugged into the test socket it should take the same standard modem cable that you were previously using (or at least that came with the router).  A standard modem cable is usually RJ11 to RJ11 though RJ12 will work too if it's wired correctly!

Thanks Keith.  Appreciate your time and the clarification.
