What a Joke

Well tried talking to support again to get a working username and password but it still does not work.

The home hub 5 connects and gets an ip but it will not connect using the given details. I did ask the lady on the phone if there was a higher level i could talk to but was informed that there is no higher level support available at the weekend. Really!!!!! Plus i was told that the BT HH5 is not a supported device . I now really regret switching to Vodafone and am acctually contemplating spending the money to get out of my contract and go with a provider that acctually provides real support.

I hope someone from vodafone uk sees this and is willing to acctually talk to me about this.

If it's getting an IP address it is basically working surely?

Have you set your own DNS servers or are you relying on Vodaphones. You may be being blocked by their content filters.

Makes no difference what DNS is set to the chat will not load.

Must say the level of support that is offered by Vodafone is the lowest I have come across in 2 decades.

Are you saying your problem is that chat will not load? I thought you were saying the HH5 does not connect at all?

OK let me try to straighten this out.

HH5 will sync but not authenticate with the username and password supplied by tech support over the phone.

With regard to the website chat not loading that's when I have the Vodafone router running and it just never loads the web chat. No matter what O/S or web browser.

I just find it unbelievable that support this day is this appalling.

Thanks for the explanation, I was just a bit puzzled by the apparently conflicting comments.

For the HH5, you say it gets an I.P. address which would mean it has authenticated. Have you tried to see if you can ping any external sites? Are there any clues in it's log as to what is happening?

For chat not loading, I have never tried before but I just gave it a go and I can't get it to work either. So it;s not just you.

So forgetting about the webchat service that nobody can get to work...

Are you saying if you use the correct (Vodafone) router you have no problems?

And if you use a non-supported router you have problems?

If so, it's not really a 'Vodafone problem'  is it?

If you really wanted to use your BT modem, could you connect to the ISP using the VF router and have the HH5 connected to that in AP mode?

As one can see the router syncs to the line but fails to negotiate connecting with the username and password supplied by vodafone.

@BobH yes internet works fine with the vodafone router but itb has problems of it's own and that is why i am attempting to use the HH5.

I am not expecting vodafone to support me if there are problems related to the router i am using but they are required to supply working login credentials.

Actually they are not. They do it as a courtesy.
