My Vodafone broadband app sync speed typically may be around 34 Mbps. Why does this not bear any resemblance to the real world?
With my device connected via ethernet to the router and to the master socket (that OpenReach recently installed), Wifi turned off etc. my actual download speeds constantly varies from anything from 13-25Mbps.
At times, when my router says there is "no internet connection" at all, therefore 0 Mbps connection; the broadband app, still insists there is a 34 Mbps sync speed!!!

Hi @fayzanrehman!
I'm sorry you're experiencing issues with your broadband. We're unable to discuss account information over the forum and it sounds like we'll need to run some tests on your line with us. Please contact our Social Media team where we'll be able to run these tests and investigate this with you further 🙂

@Beth I've had issues stretching back months, The Social Media team are worse at responding that the Customer Services team.
I would be grateful if you actually explain the answer to my question? Why is it that I can have absolutely no internet connection connection, yet the app will insist that I have a broadband sync speed of 34 Mbps? It would suggest that the app is defective.

If the app says you have a sync of 34Mbs you possibly do, but don't rely on the app actually check it on the router.
Always best to get it from the horse's mouth.

@jayach, the home screen of the router tells me the VDSL download and upload speeds. The download speed shown on the router is often the same as the sync speed, ~34Mbps.
Yet with my device connected by ethernet to the router and the router connected to the test socket in the master socket, I may get a download speed anywhere between 13-24Mbps on speedtest.net

Then, unless you have a faulty router, cable or device, it must be a faulty or congested line.
What router do you have as the stats you posted on your other thread didn't look the same as I get from my Vodafone router (THG3000).?

@Jayach A couple of day ago I got the latest Vodafone router as a replacement. But it made no difference. Even with the router connected to the test socket, the real world test speeds are nowhere close to the claimed Vodafone sync speed. I wonder why that is the case.
I'd also like to understand what the DSL status values actually mean and whether they indicate a potential issue

As I said unless there is a problem with the device/cable (we can eliminate the modem as you have a new one) then it is probably congestion. Many posters on here say that in the evening Vodafone's throughput degrades badly so run the tests at various times of the day to see if this applies to you.
Speed tests are usually a bit slower in the evening for me, but not enough to cause problems
I have a sync of 79Mbs but even wired speed tests never get much above 70Mbs but that is to be expected due to overheads.

You should be able to google that information, but beware there a lot of people who don't know as much as they think they do. (probably applies to me too 😉)
Kitz has a good writeup here, obviously written about ADSL but the concepts apply to VDSL as well.
