Solution

YouTube terrible speed and buffering

I am on Vodafone fibre so just under a year and no problems getting 10mbps but over the last 5 days I am getting terrible performance on YouTube on wifi on all devices. It either buffers, doesn’t play video and occasionally I get a period of a few minutes with no problems.

I have rebooted router and reset firmware and spoke to  Vodafone but no solution. If I connect to mobile data all is good, and all other streaming video sites work fantastic and my wifi speed is always good. Any ideas?

@yorkshireskippy @You really think it was you who shouted loudly that brought the attention of someone who then somehow managed to get the problem fixed ?

You really believe this loud shouting tactic and would continue to deploy this loud shouting tactic to get service providers Roger things fixed-done for you ?

Do you deploy the same tactic in real life (that is when you deal with service providers face to face)? And does the tactic work for you every time ?

No, I'm not naive enough to think my voice alone got the problem fixed, I simply added to the volume of complaints flooding into Vodafone. If a company runs around fobbing me off from one department to the next, just like what happened in this case, pretending to offer solutions and denying the apparent problem, yes I do employ this tactic. You know what? It generally works. 'He who shouts loudest'. Sadly its the way of the world these days, including trying to get the Police to investigate a 'minor' crime.

Face to face, no, I'm not the shouty type, I simply stand my ground when I think and perceive I'm right. Shout shouty doesn't work face to face, negotiation does.

It isn't the same issue, bandwidth issues weren't the problem in this thread it was simply google services not working via Vodafone BB.

If it is now starting to work for most of you, they have probably fixed it, but it's most unlikely they will say what it was. I bet they turned a server off/on somewhere.

Ironically my whole internet just took a dump.

Perhaps just a small wobble.

I think for those on FTTP who have this issue, mentioning if you are CityFibre or OpenReach could be an interesting start.  I get the impression that it's almost all CityFibre...

OpenReach FTTC here, with static public IPv4 address. Openreach fibre a tempting 100yds away down the street, but no sign of it appearing any time soon... Also, Yorkshire, as I saw an earlier post asking for geographic information.

That said, I here hopeful noises tonight so looking forward to testing when I get home later.

Openreach FTTP here.
