High Latency

I usually get a ping somewhere between 5ms and 8ms, but for the last three days I have been getting 11 or 12ms. Each time I have used the same test server. In any case all the other servers produce even higher pings.  There are no problems with speed.

Is anyone getting the same issue and is there a wider problem atm?

One of the reasons I left Virgin Media, apart from up speed  was that their ping was always 12 or 13 ms, which is not great for gaming.

Here is what background latency should be with Vodafone. The first TBB graph shows mine a few days ago. The green area indicates latency.

The second image shows what it is like now. Notice how the green band indication latency is thicker on the second image.  Ignore the outages in the first part. That was me rebooting and messing with router settings on my AX11000.

What Ripshod said. We can only go by Vodafone's designation.

Can I ask, was your poor latency just a blipp or did it persist?

Also the app you screen shot that sows latency over time.  Can I ask what that is?

That trace is the Broadband Quality monitor at Think Broadband. It's open and free to anyone

My gateway is 90.247.64.1, which I think is a London one (I'm in Worcester). VF are asking me why I think I am being routed via London.

I  saw a reference to arin in this thread and I had a look but wasn't sure what I was looking at tbh.

Can anyone confirm that the gateway is London?

Thanks

There's no identifier in arin because it's old cable & wireless infrastructure. Sometimes it gets updated, sometimes not.

But it's located in Newbury.

Ah, great. Thanks. Arin mentioned Amsterdam so I knew I was in the wrong place. My pings aren't THAT bad!
