Hi all I've been told today by Vodafone customer service broadband team that my minimum speed guarantee is only valid if a device is connected via a Ethernet cable! Is this true?

That's correct. A working cat5e cable will deliver the full 1Gbe, or more if you have faster ports. WiFi on the vodafone THG3000, I would say 600Mb on the wifi if you're in the same room less than 10ft away, in good conditions.

So even though my minimum guarantee is 455mps and now for over a week it's down to only 50mps Max over wifi I don't have any way of using the minimum guarantee clause against them? Ps thanks for quick response

That's correct. The minimum speed guarantee covers only the broadband connection to your home. What happens after the router is not covered.

Hi Yes thats standard practice across all broadband providers. With the exception to providers that sell mesh Wi-Fi at the additional cost which comes with a minimum guaranteed speed. Test your connection on a wired device if it is drastically different on Wi-Fi. Try changing the Wi-Fi channel or repositioning the router.

My router is about 12 inches from the the open reach box in my house....up until a week ago I was getting my minimum speed (450 mps) wifi and wired! Now I'm getting between 7.5-60mps wired and wifi... I bought a cat 8 cable and Vodafone said I had to have a cat 6 or the readings would not be accepted! So had to purchase a cat 6 at my own expense

What happened to the cable Vodafone supplied?

That's still attached to the router..the cat 6 is for running a speed test via a laptop! I was going to use the cat 8 that I got for my Ps5 but Vodafone said no! Ringing me back Monday for the tests to proceed from their end! I already know the cat 6 cable has made zero difference from my end!

The cable you use from the device to the router, or indeed the router to the ONT, as long as it is cat5e or better is fine, Vodafone are just being pedants.
If your speeds were fine and now they are not, and nothing has changed at your end, they really shouldn't be trying to get you to jump through all these hoops.
Are your speeds consistently low all the time, or is it possibly only a peak time slowdown?

All the time for the last 8 days or so...been absolutely superb last 7 months then all of a sudden get as low as 7 or as "high" as 60mps across the day and night regardless of times ...I'm on the 910 fttp package it's just not good enough the speeds I'm getting now I've not touched anything been on the phone to them 8 hours over the last 7 days and had a second router sent and exactly the same as my original one..bizarre
