Shocking internet

So I'm not one of the lucky few that is able to get FTTP and i'm still stuck with FTTC.

I usually get speeds around 38-40mbps... (but in theory should get 50+) over the last couple of days though for some reason my speed has dropped to <15mbps.

I've tried all the usual tricks...

- reset the router

- swapped the cable

- tried the master/test port on the socket

- vodafone broadband checker tool

All have had no effect and apparently there are no known issues. I'm stuck in the customer support call loop of the automated system telling me to check the website and the website telling me to speak to an advisor.

I even ran a broadband availability check on the vodafone website and now they're only saying that I can get max speeds of 15mbps but my next door neighbour can still get 50+ apparently.

What the hell can I do?

Hey @Idntknw We can check what's caused this drop in speed for you. Pop us a message via one of our social channels and we'll be more than happy to take a look and see what we can do to help increase this for you.

Managed to get past Mobi today.. Yey!

Will see if we get anywhere

Hi, thanks for the replies.

Vodafone were quick to arrange for openreach to come and investigate after doing all the online tests etc.

Turns out that both the copper cables to our house are damaged and need repaired/replaced.

Looks like my driveway will be getting dug up,

.@Idntknw OK, please explain how you got something done in less that 2 weeks, including a Bank Holiday. 😁😁😁

Don't you know that you're supposed to wait three months and be pulling you hair out before anything happens?

I'm a little surprised that your driveway may be dug-up as copper normally runs from a telegraph pole or in a culvert. If the latter they should be able to pull the replacement cable through without digging. Hope it all goes well.

No idea how I got them to look at it, admittedly the initial effort to get through to a human took a while but it took less than 48hrs for them to get someone out to me once I'd gotten through.

It's a shame about our nice block paved drive, I'm led to believe that when they built our estate (70s built) they decided not to use the telegraph poles and didn't bother with any sort of culvert etc. they just chucked the cables in the ground.

Please let me know how you get on, as strangely enough my broadband speeds have five the same, dropped from 38-40mbs to 13-15 mbs. It off interest are you still in contact out or if contact like myself. Thanks

Is that the router sync speed or the download speed that users are talking about? and is it, fttc or fttp

The reason I asked is because

The router sync is an issue with the phone line between the router to the cabinet fttc .

If the sync speed is correct means its an issue with cable links or Vodafone or city fibre, routing etc
