Streaming keeps buffering on FTTC connection

Hello,

I suspect this is a longstanding and widespread problem and i wonder if there are any updates?

I have a vodafone FTTC connection which currently has an uptime of 105 days and a current synch capacity of  78614kbps downstream and 20000kbps upstream according to the router which is the as supplied standard vodafone wifi hub.

We have had long term issues with streaming services periodically stopping and buffering. We only tend to use these services in the evening so this would be the only service using data.

It affects ITV player and BBC Iplayer. Im sure it would affect other similar services should we use them.

The smart TV is hard wired using a network cable and its wireless connection is set to off.

I've put up with it for long enough and i think this is due to vodafones service and not an issue within the home.

Why should i have to pay for the service when i cant do something as simple as stream a programme on iplayer?

I might as well downgrade to ADSL.

Does anyone know if vodafone recognizes and is addressing these issues?

Thank you

Then you are on an FTTP connection, so this was probably not a suitable thread to join.

It would probably be best to start your own thread, then we can more easily follow what you may have tried.

I am not a computer specialist, don't know what is a thread and how to start a new one.

Good luck with support, but I think you will get better advice here on the forum.

Thanks for your help. I will just call customer service and if they can solve I will just cancel service and will go back to virgin media

I'm having the same problem. Less of a problem before I changes to fibre optic! Not happy.

Simply Vodafone is providing ##~## service compared to Virgin.i will move back to Virgin ASAP

That is your opinion, and of course you are entitled to it.

There are others who would disagree with you, although some will agree. Fortunately we all have the ability to choose an ISP for ourselves.

Never had those issues on slower copper cable. Vodafone assurance that is quicker and more reliable are empty

@Homik

This thread is entitled "Streaming keeps buffering on FTTC connection",

FTTC is Fibre to the cabinet, you are on FTTP, Fibre to the property.

That is why I said you would be better starting your own thread.

You are correct that Fibre should give a better connection than copper, and for most people it does.

If that is not happening in your case, there is a problem.

If we can we will try to help you solve it, but simply slagging off Vodafone will not help.

Will not for sure. I am not a tech guy and just wanted router plug and play. what I did get is not even half as good as my old set from virgin. WiFi range is +-40% of previous one, streaming keep freezing. I am just frustrated that I was promised great service and received fraction
