Just had the 900mbps line installed.
When the engineer installed it, he tested the WiFi and was like "oh, it's only 500, will probably take awhile to get the speed through".
However once he left, I whacked in a cable and did a test and got 930mbps, and yet when testing over WiFi I got 500mbps and then today I getting 300mbps over WiFi, but the cables test is fine.
I rang Vodafone who said they would update the firmware on the router and I should call back in a week.
Just to let you know... Excact same results after firmware update.
I'll wait a week.. But I feel this was just fobbing me off.
Also, I've tried on multiple WiFi devices, even my 13th gen intel laptop i just got with the latest WiFi card in it.

Experiencing such a discrepancy between the advertised 900 Mbps and the real wifi speeds sounds aggravating, particularly since cable testing indicate faster speeds. Given that Vodafone's firmware upgrade failed to fix the problem, it makes sense to be dubious about hoping for better luck after another week. You can think about contacting Vodafone's customer service once more to voice your worries and ask if they have any further troubleshooting advice or remedies to provide. It might also be beneficial to look for any possible interference or setup problems with your wifi network that can be affecting its functionality.

WiFi speeds will always be lower than expected as the wifi itself is a bottleneck. I have an asus wifi6 router. In theory 80MHz bandwidth is good for 1200Mbps, but in reality right now I'm getting 325Mbps.

I've got Vodafone Full Fibre 500 and on the day it was activated, the download speed was between 400Mbps - 450Mbps. But overtime, The speeds got a little better between 500Mbps - 530Mbps (with Ethernet). And I also noticed that the speeds were better but the WiFi Range and signals were getting slower. Luckily, they were able to provide me a WIFI Booster at no extra cost and after that, MY SPEEDS GOT SPLIT BETWEEN THE ROUTER AND THE BOOSTER. THEY BOTH WERE GIVING 250Mbps each.
Overall, I would say that Vodafone does listen to their Customers only when you overwhelmingly contact them.

@sam30 If you are replying to me about links, then yes every link has the potential to be nasty and I, alongside some other regulars, have caught-out quite a number.

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating situation! The significant difference between your wired and wireless speeds is definitely concerning. It's good that you tested with a cable and got close to the maximum speed, but since the firmware update didn’t change anything, the issue might not be a simple fix. In the meantime, consider optimizing your router placement, ensuring it's away from walls and obstructions. If your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, try connecting to the 5GHz band for potentially higher speeds. Also, check for interference from other devices, and consider changing the WiFi channel to avoid congestion, especially in densely populated areas. Make sure other devices aren't using up bandwidth during your tests as well. If these steps don't help, looking into a different router could be worthwhile. It can be a bit of trial and error, but hopefully, you'll get to the bottom of it soon!
