Landline phone with own router on FTTP

Just got FTTP and everything is working fine off the VF router. Phone lines are plugged into the VF router, VF router's WiFi is switched off. 3rd party Mesh has been switched to Bridge mode and plugged into the VF's ethernet port.

However I am shocked at how feature poor the VF router is. e.g. There are no Parental controls at all. I know I can get rid of the VF router and plug my own Mesh router into the Openreach ONT, but what about the Landline.

Are there any 3rd party routers in the market that have a telephone socket at the back to allow the home phone to be plugged in?

I agree, this would be very helpful.

Finally, success!   My Grandstream HT801 finally appears to be working properly with my Netgear D7800 router - and I have finally been able to reconnect the extension landline phones around the house - so our landline phone is no longer draped across the living room!   I am able to answer calls to the landline from a mobile, and can make my mobile ring from the landline (I don't feel inclined to start a charges call, as I really only need the landline for incoming calls).   I am presuming that international calls (the only reason I need the landline) are processed in exactly the same way - so hopefully they will be OK - but time will tell I am sure!

Many thanks to all of the members who have offered assistance over the last couple of months or so, especially to NovaPixie for the detailed screenshots - which proved to be the game changer in resolving the problems I had been having.

I would just like to add that (in my experience) the SIP Proxy address that is required is one that is directly associated with a user's individual VOIP account details - and it is not something that can be changed.  Part of the problem I had been having turned out to be that I was using SIP Proxy details copied from other user's notes - and it turned out that the one for MY account was slightly different (xbn.Z3.bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk.

It's fantastic that you've got everything set up and operational! Indeed, the SIP proxy might vary, and it seems that in my locality, people often use the same configurations, suggesting they could be specific to a region.

I'm presently working on activating the service on my Grandstream DP750. I haven't located all the settings that Vodafone might require, but I've opened a ticket with Grandstream to help me find these settings, or to consider including them in a future firmware update if they're not currently available.

I've managed to find most of the required settings, but I'm uncertain about the following five:

1. Use P-Access-Network-Info Header: No
2. Disable Reminder Ring for DND: No
3. MWI Tone: Special Proceed Indication Tone
4. SLIC Setting: UK
5. Caller ID Scheme: SIN 227 - BT

For the benefit of others who may find it helpful, here are the settings I've matched:

Good luck!    I  have come slowly to the conclusion that PROBABLY 90-95% of the setting parameters on the DT801 are 'overkill' and not actually needed for home landlines over Vodafone.   The really tricky part - where some expert knowledge is essential - is in identifying the 5-10% that has to be 'word-perfect' in order for the setup to work.

The matter has now been referred to the developers at Grandstream. I'm hoping that the "P-Access-Network-Info Header" will be included in a future firmware update for the DP750 (presently absent in version 1.0.21.2).

As of Grandstream DP750 beta firmware version 1.0.21.12, there is now the "Use P-Access-Network-Info Header" option under:

Profiles > Profile # > SIP Settings > Basic Settings

The configuration appears to match that of my HT801. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked immediately, and there may be additional aspects to consider. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

User-Agent Prefix: Vox 3.0 Grandstream DP750 1.0.21.12
(Configure the prefix in the User-Agent header.)

This sets the full user-agent to: Vox 3.0 Grandstream DP750 1.0.21.12.
This could be a potential issue, although I'm not entirely certain just yet.

I believe that would be a problem. Anything more, less, or other than "Vox 3.0" would fail. IIRC that would only affect outgoing calls, but it's been a while.......

*EDIT* I'm wrong. User-agent is essential to registration 🧐

Thanks to everyone here for their hard work and contributions, particularly Ripshod for his WP822 configuration screenshots. I've just managed to get a WP810 working with relatively little swearing.

I took notes on the settings and sources of information as I went and posted them on Github in case they may be of use to someone.

Followed the great advice in this thread (thanks Bruce for starting it) to get a HT801 working through a Fritz!Box.

But since mid-December we have an intermittent problem whereby the calling party cannot hear us when we answer the phone - we can hear them okay. Reverting to the Vodafone router usually solves the problem but of course if we wanted to do that we wouldn't be following this thread in the first place. When we contacted Vodafone about this the escalated to second level support, who gave us a slick line in BS which amounted to "we have reset the Vodafone Router config".

Has anybody else had this problem, i.e. calling party can't hear us on answer?
