Have been waiting for some three weeks or more to get my telephone number transfered from my last Isp to Vodafone. Am told that Openeraeach deal with this. Cannot receive calls on landline as a result of problem. Any suggestions as to how can get issue speedly rectified?

Number porting has nothing to do with Openreach, if you have not had the number transferred by now, it's not likely to happen.

Out of interest, were you on digital voice (VoIP) on your previous ISP, and who were they?

No and  I was with Plusnet.

By way of further information I can make calls out on my telephone but anyone trying to phone my number gets a message saying invalid number.

And is the number being received by the person you are calling the correct one?

If so, they (Vodafone) should be able to resolve it, but as you have found they are not good at sorting out problems with porting.

I have used my landline to phone Vodafone in order to report my problem and to follow ups in order to see whether any progress made in resolving it. I wonder when I last phoned and I was put through to the "easyswitch team" by the first person I dealt with why they said it was a matter for Openreach and they would send a chasing email.

Goodness knows, Vodafone agents are not well known for getting things right.

You will now be on digital voice, Openreach will have nothing to do with it. Porting is carried out by the gaining and loosing ISPs, and possibly with input from other suppliers the number may have been with in the past. It's basically a mess.

I have lodged a complaint with Ofcom concerning the issue and received a reference number. Whilst I understand that they do not directly deal with these issues the suggestion is that making a complaint might help in the first instance. Am not sure what else I can do to progress matters other than to continue contacting Vodafone from time to time. Might it be worth contacting Plusnet to see if they are holding matters up?

Hi @hiker48 I'm really sorry you've been left with reason to contact Ofcom. We'd be happy to look into this and see if we can get an answer on what's happened with the number port. Please drop us a message over on our social channels here. Alternatively, you can see our Complaint Code and contact our complaint team directly.

Whilst I am registered on X I have not used it to post messages and am thus not sure how to locate the correct place to post my complaint/problem with the Vodafone UK community. How do I locate the social team? In the meantime I have filled out and submitted a complaint form. Happy to post matter to the community also if you can direct me to the correct place to do so.
