Hello
I have only had my Vodafone 5G GigaCube for 4 weeks -- and I have had problems with streaming from Netflix on the Apple TV device. This problem doesn't appear on any other device or any other app or website. This problems is specifically restricted to the 5G GigaCube when using Apple TV to stream from Netflix.
My friend who is on the O2 network -- created a wifi hotspot on her mobile phone -- and when I connected my Apple TV to her wifi hotspot then Netflix streaming would work on the Apple TV. When I reverted back to my GigaCube 5G it stopped working. So this is 100% a problem with the 5G network.
There are many people who have posted similar problems -- but there has been no serious attempt to resolve this issue. This is quite a serious matter -- as its reason for me to throw the Router in the bin.
The same issue has been posted several times here:
https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Archive/Netflix-139-error-on-Apple-TV/m-p/2576639
Other forum members (1st link) are speculating that it appears to be a problem with Vodafone blocking some specific certificate servers used by Netflix (which are specific to Apple TV devices).
No amount of switching off the device, removing the plug, switching off the router, restarting the router, plugging the AppleTV back and reconnecting to the 5G network is going to work. So please don't give me bs answers. The fact I could get it working on a different network means I expect Vodafone to address this problem directly with Apple.
I will not allow this issue to go until Vodafone acknowledges this is a problem with their network and I will be raising a customer complaint unless a resolution is found.
If others have similar problems -- please add a reply here so we don't let this problem get closed without a resolution.

Hi @dispiritom, Apologies for our delay in replying. We're extremely busy here at the moment and it's taking us slightly longer than usual to reply. Are you only getting this message when connecting to Netflix through your Apple TV box? If so, resetting your Apple TV can correct this:
- Unplug your Apple TV and the TV it's connected to from power for at least 2 minutes.
- Plug both devices back in.
- Turn both devices back on.
- Try Netflix again.
If you've already tried this, or it doesn't resolve your issue. Pop us a message with a link to this thread, through one of our social channels and one of our team will be happy to help.

thanks for sharing this. I don't have much faith that Vodafone will address Apple TV when they can't even address basic problems network latency when accessing regular web pages. Your insight that this problem doesn't exist on the 4th Gen Apple TV is promising as someone on this thread has said the same thing.

I’ve had this same issue for months. Just not possible to use iPhone hotspot to watch Netflix on Apple TV. My solution was switching to Three

I came across your post having just switched to vodafone.... so I get the error 139 again on a older apple TV only, the other fault is often programs will go into french or another language, however this isn't only vodafone issue, I had the same issue a few years back with EE the exact same fault but they couldn't resolve it - way above any of their technical supports staff abilities to resolve it would appear... I then switched to three mobile broadband and it was fine and I've happily used it a few years problem free forgot all about the issue until I signed back up to vodafone this time and my son said peppa pig had gone french! then I tried watching something in the evening and got error 139.
It only effects the older apple tv's (v2 v3) the newer ones are fine (hd model) apple aren't intrested as not really their problem its a network issue, netflix aren't interested at all, and the mobile network support staff just don't have a clue.. I would imagine that ee and vodafone are using some form of data routing filtering to stop customers using as much bandwidth,
it would be lovely to get it fixed but bet it won't happen

I found solution by setting up the TIMEZONE on the Apple TV to AUTOMATIC, this fixed the issue
