Hi Guys,

I today purchased a sim/mobile account from the Vodafone store with unlimited data and calls, I believe it to be just a normal phone contract sim, I was told that it would work with my recently purchesed Huawei AI cube B900, but I just can not get it to connect to the internet, If I put the sim into a phone it works and connects to the internet OK, and the router works fine with a 3 mobile and an O2 sim in it, Ive had a little search on here/online and seen aot about changing IP and DNS settings but im not to clued up on this.

Do I have the wrong contract as in should it be a broadband sim?

Is it vodafone and the cube not compatible?

why does my standard mobile O2 sim and a 3 mobile data sim work OK?

or is it just me not knowing how to set it up?

Thanks in advance

Darren

Hey there. Trust me whatever you do it won’t work I tried everything. Vodafone has no clue when you call their helpline they are dumb as you know it.  My analysis and online research concluded for me that the MHz on the router and the one broadcast by vodafone in your area is different. Therefore it goes into 3G. However I still don’t understand why it keeps switching from 3G & 4g and vice versa.

I changed my router and was back to steady 4g. You can use any other router like netgear, d-link etc.

I think that's gonna be what I have to do. Its a shame that all other CAT6 4g routers are double the cost. I also sent a email to Huawei but am waiting for a reply.

The twitter rep replied to me and said "Our SIMs are designed for mobile use, rather than in third party devices. If the SIM works fine in a phone but not in the Huawei Cube, then there is a compatibility issue between our network and the Huawei software. As you've advised above the SIM works fine in a phone, I would recommend using another network to power the Huawei cube. Bethan".

I'm not sure if a data only sim would work in it but I'm not going to spend anymore money to find out.

I got a normal sim and not a special data sim. I’m getting proper 4g/5G after changing my router.

Hi Thomas

i got the same issue. I got in touch with the Vodafone team but no use they don’t seem to understand or have lack of info or are turning a blind eye to it.

let me know if you figured it out on how to solve it.
