@Mossy4015

According to this thread that router should work with Vodafone Uk.

4g-on-Huawei-B535.

Without hands on I can only assume it's a setting etc that needs looking at or a glitch and trying again may connect it.

Possibly Huawei own support pages may help or there might be a Huawei Community Forum that has help within it.

A similar thread but not the same model.

I wish you all the best with this situation.

Hi @Mossy4015

Where did you purchase the device?

That usually happens when you are using a overseas SIM and not a Vodafone UK SIM and there is no roaming agreement in place with the overseas network.

The device was given to me by my father after he went on fixed broadband. The SIM card was delivered to me from Vodafone U.K.

Thank you.

It definitely works with a Three and EE SIM card, I tried them both.
Thank you.

I’ve looked at the network search and it says EE = allowed

O2 =allowed

3 =allowed

Voda = forbidden.
thank you.

Hi @Mossy4015

It sounds like this is an unlocked device.

If the SIM has been provided by Vodafone, it will activate when it makes a connection to the network.   You also need to download the Vodafone software for the device from here:  Mobile Broadband Software and will need the correct APN settings from here:APN settings

edited to add:  @Mossy4015  This may be an original supplied by 3 device, now unlocked device.  I would recommend looking at the 3 site for device set up, it should give some tips on how to download APN settings etc.

You also don't mention the type of SIM you have been sent by Vodafone and if this is PAYG or pay monthly.

Ok @Mossy4015

Then as long as the Vodafone sim card is working _ test it in a phone if possible and the huawei has the correct Internet settings for Vodafone Uk it should work.

Please re check these settings.

It won’t let me change the APN, as it says no/invalid SIM card. I can see the Three/ EE APN because it recognises the SIM cards. The only SIM card it doesn’t recognise is Vodafone, maybe because it says forbidden.
than you.

Looks to be locked off to Vodafone Uk for some reason.

Unfortunately as Vodafone didn't supply the device they won't be able to support it.

There might be a huawei community forum or forum for that device that members there might be able tosupply a workaround or try a Google search @Mossy4015

Or in the thread I added a person called @Litas  is using that device so maybe private message them to ask what they did to make it work.

Hi @Mossy4015

I am wondering if the reason for this is due to Vodafone supplying a device that basically does the same thing where you are able to connect several devices and an alternative to home broadband.   This information is here: Gigacube

It would be interesting to know the type of SIM you have been sent and whether this is PAYG or pay monthly ,data only or including voice.

It’s a pay monthly data SIM card. I’ve just tried my sister’s Vodafone data pay monthly and that’s got the same Issues.

That certainly proves it is the device and not the SIM @Mossy4015

If you want to use Vodafone it may be necessary to cancel the data SIM and purchase a data device from here: Vodafone mobile broadband or purchase an alternative unlocked device.

You have 14 days to make the return.

Hi @Mossy4015

I notice on your screenshot you have it set to 4G only.  Try changing the mode to 2G and 3G, it may be that 4G is not available at your location and an alternative frequency will work.

My sister lives 50 meters away, she gets 4G. We both have poynting external antennas, she gets 4G. It must be my router. I really appreciate all the help you have given me.

@Mossy4015

The device may work on 2 or 3G but not 4G so worth a try, 3G is not that much slower than 4G, if it works at least you will be able to use the device for your internet access.

It’s saying forbidden on all Vodafone frequencies.
