New Dongle

Hi,

Just upgraded, worked well previously. Seem to be connecting fine and speed ok, however signal coverage light is always red. Tried resetting, etc - used online chat to discuss today. After over an hour, no help at all - just wanted me to return and cancel - why? old dongle no longer works....SIM won`t fit...

Any ideas welcome please....

Hey @Higgy5150 I hope you're well. Have you checked the Network Status Checker to see if there are any issues, outages or maintenance in the area that could be affecting it?

This would indicate a problem with the SIM @Higgy5150 .

 

You don't mention the plan you are on, unless you are on an unlimited plan data usage is automatically capped and the dongle would stop working when the allowance had been reached.  It might be worth asking Vodafone how much data you have used,

Are you having problems getting a signal with your mobile broadband dongle? Try connecting your dongle to a USB extension cable, about 10-15cm. This will make the dongle work like an aerial and can improve your mobile dongle signal strength, especially in bad weather. It works for me. 😄

Hi, yes, plug your dongle into a USB extension cable (you can buy these seperately) and then plug the cable into your laptops USB socket. The dongle should change from red to green or whatever colour it usually shows when it is connected to the network and the dongle should work better. You should notice an improvement.
