I'm experiencing a really funny thing right now.
I live in Bridgwater which has good coverage (4g) only. I have the unlimited MAX package, but my download speeds are below 10mb/sec sometimes 3 or less! i had hours of phone calls and live chat sessions, did everything they could come up with. Connecting-reconnecting- removing sim- resetting network settings, i had all my services restarted 3 times in 48 hours, at the end i have been told to go and get a new sim!
also there are no maintenances at the moment.
Now here comes a funny part that i can't get my head around:::
The local vodafone store is 100 yards away, across the street, if i look out trough my window i can see it. ( this is important)
i went to the store explained what is going on, that my speeds are unusable and nothing helps at all, maybe a new sim will sort it out somehow. Now, the bloke in the store put my phone on the desk he fired up fast.com, and speedtest by ookla ( i have the app by the way). Guest what???? 80mb/sec up 40 down. i was like what?!?!?!
test it again same results. i told him as soon as i step outside the store it goes under 10! i showed him he was in shock. then i asked him if they have any kind of signal booster in the store, like cellular repeater of some sort, he denied it. i got my new sim in the meantime, and tried that one, again 70-80mb/sec inside the store premises, outside i had 8 again! he told me they have no problems at all wherever they are in the town.
i try to link 2 screenshots here, one is the ookla results one is a map to pin point the distance between me and the vodafone store.

on the ookla picture the blue circle is inside the store the red circle is in the door! the rest is outside the store.
i asked him is there any chance if i cross the street my phone connects to new mast? even if it does, how comes that INSIDE the store its flawless outside the store its useless. 5 yards( literally just stepping outside).
yet they still deny the fact that they have any kind of repeater or antenna set up in the store.
if no one believes me i can record it on video bloody hell i don't understand this.
please help! my data is useless by the way. cant get anything done at all. i can barely watch youtube on 480p.
when i had the 6gb red package it was flawless. what is going on?

Hi there @Cubicolor - This is quite odd 🤔 I'd like to check the coverage in your area to start off. Could you help me by letting me know the results to our initial network checks please?

Hi Evie! don't bother i decided to downgrade to the normal unlimited, because whatever i do it can't be fixed in the near future. why should i pay extra for less then 10mb/sec?
as soon as my contract ends in September i will launch this phone and the sim to outer space and go to different provider. vodafone is a circus.
let me explain why. i talked to live chat a dozen times no one understood my problem, 3 times in a row when i was asked what kind of device i have ( samsung galaxy) i was given instructions on how to reset my apple iphone on t-mobiles network ...... No joke!
it's impossible to speak to human, everyone is relying on the community, because there is no actual technical help. in order to get your problems solved you have to sacrifice a goat in a mountain at this point to find a solution. less developed countries have better phone infrastructure than the UK ( offense intended ).
i'm about the get connected via broadband by vodafone on 16th march.
3 years ago i tried to do the same but vodafone connected the broadband to my neighbours house, cancelling his contract, he had to pay an early termination fee, after we figured out that my modem works at his landline connection i called vodafone and explained what is going on. they couldn't book me an engineer to sort it out, they suggested to disconnect my neighbours landline and get that copper cable to my house at the end after 3 month of struggling they finally let me go without a termination fee. or they? because not 3 months later i got my debt collection letter and we had to fight that one for another month then we finally got our refund, and got a bad credit report from vodafone!!! at the end i went to an EE shop and under 10 minutes they booked me and engineer to install a new phone line and i was connected in 7 days! now that my contract ended with EE vodafone called me to join them again. i did. but i had to explain 3 times in a row to make sure that the line is activated at the right property! so yes i'm not happy with vodafone. Big cities have kind of a good service but small towns are suffering a lot from dropouts and capped download speeds. this is fact.

now that i have rolled back successfully my monthly plan was increased by 2 pounds! i just had to fight that one as well because it was 40! also every time i do something secure net is activated, i wasn't asking for it got that one turned off as well. jesus christ.

There probably is a femtocell in the store - most Vodafone stores have them. Strange that the person working there would deny it, but they might just not be aware.

I ask them to speed test one of THEIR phones in the store and then outside. That way you’ll know if it’s your handset or if they are as stated by another poster using a cell in the shop.
I would imagine all phone shops have some sort of special network to fast internet connection as it’s the most reliable way of having a good service. Can you imagine going into a phone providers shop and nothing works well because of engineering work on the cell? No one would buy anything or come back so they must have a their own network in the shop shop.
But as ai said , get them to use their own phone or a handset from in the shop and make sure the WiFi is off and the network settings on the handset is your standard wap and wap that’ll prove it’s just your handset if the other phone works which doesn’t really help with the problem as it would be very weird but st least you’d know it’s just your handset. You could also find a friend too
Just make sure the end point on Ookla is the same provided too.
