not registered on a network

so my wifes' vodafone mobile gives a 'not registered on network'  message

so it doesn't do calls or send texts .

so the  stupid mindless ridiculous call  answering system gets me to replace my SIM and sends me a message with a link.

But the phone isnt recieving texts you stupid lot.

And there is no other option to get to speak to  a human -  probably the same idiot who put together the triage on the phone answering.

The nearest  vodafone shop is 200 miles away .

So how do i get a  replacement sim ?

grhhhhhhhh

Hi @grolma I appreciate this must be frustrating. As @AnnS has advised there a few steps we can try to confirm if the issue lays with the device or the sim. If you'd like to ask your wife to contact our Social Media team here, we'll be able to run some tests with her and order a new sim if necessary.

i have a suresignal because i have no signal in my house ( im in the rural North of Scotland) . So to configure the SS I need to log in to my account. And to do that you send a text message, So to get the txt I don wellies etc , walk up the hill until I get a good enough signal. And then come back home. By which time the login  has expired.

To get a replacement SIM because my phone isnt doing anything ,

you........ send me a text !

Has anyone thought this through from the users' POV ?  It seems not.

Later in the day I discovered networking issues.

1 vodafone.broadband (192.168.1.1) 1.817 ms 1.733 ms 2.384 ms

2 host-212-158-250-34.dslgb.com (212.158.250.34) 26.007 ms 26.415 ms 27.023 ms

3 host-212-158-250-41.dslgb.com (212.158.250.41) 32.355 ms 33.548 ms 34.227 ms

4 static-87-75-99-9.vodafonexdsl.co.uk (87.75.99.9) 42.958 ms 43.626 ms 44.094 ms

5 * * *

6 * * *

7 * * *

8 * * *

etc to 30 hops.

Sorting this rebooting SS and  changing DNS has fixed the phone problem.

But the first issue - you send a text when because of the reported problem, im unable to receive it , strikes me as silly,

I appreciate where you are coming from @grolma  - but I can assure you do we want to help get you up and running as soon as possible.

If it is a new SIM that is needed, we do need to pass a certain level of security but assuming there is enough information on the account we wouldn't necessarily need to sent you code by text. I would suggest we run through some troubleshooting with you and check your/your wifes' account through our social media platforms as we don't have account access on the forum.

Could you or your wife (depending on who is the account holder) contact us on social media, please make sure to include a link to this thread so that you don't have to repeat yourself, your postcode, mobile/account number and the make and model of your device?

Hi, to resolve the error when your phone not registered on network you need to gain access to service mode. This can be done by entering the code *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer and Enter Service mode before you are about to tap on the option – Device information or Phone information. Now click on the Run Ping test as here the radio option will be visible in the mid of the screen. Just see in case it is off or on. Just tap the option that is close to it to turn on the radio. You can also be prompted to reboot the device. In the end, press reboot, and you will see that your phone will be rebooting.
