So I'm wondering if it's possible to use a switch between the ont and the vodafone hub?

There is authorisation, PPoE. As above, only one device can be authorised and if you try and add a second, both drop connection and cycle between connecting and disconnecting every few seconds, which leaves you without a working internet connection.

If you want to know what your PPoE credentials are, you will have to ask Vodafone for them.

I can see no reason why it wouldn't work, but why would you want to?

So most people will ne ok with using the vodafone hub, but for me I'm forced to use there hub for my lanline, unless i get a ata device, more cost and hahhle, At the moment, I dmz my router that is 100x better than vodafonds hub and dont have any issues.

But was thinking of using a switch, so the vodafone hub will be on a different line. Saving double nat and other ipv6 issues.

So be line ont - switch - lan1, vodafone hub switch lan 2 3ed party router?

I'm pretty sure that won't work, I would think only one device will be able to authenticate to Vodafone, however feel free to give it a try, and let us know how you get on.

Well for fttp, I'm not sure if there is authenticion , as it's done by the ont, I thought, it's just authentication of the landline for the hub. Yet im unsure, why i running my thoughts here.

I'm not sure we're my switch is but will look in the loft for it.

So if the vodafone hub still need username and pass, what is the defaults. For setting on 3ed party devices.

As @WelshPaul says there is definately authentication. You are currently using double NAT on your 3rd party router which is why it's working without authentication. Just try connecting it to the ONT without the Vodafone router and it won't work.

Sorry I forgot you said you are using the DMZ, so not double NAT, but the Vodafone router is doing the authentication.

Yes I was thinking the above, so aye no point if its going to cycle between the two devices.
