Okay, so you've plugged it in.
Used the app on your phone to connect to the extender's network.
connected the extender to the router via WPS or manually.
What goes wrong with these at this point, is that they work better if you give their own network a different name, such as your original WiFi name with _ext on the end. If you try to use the same SSID and password for the extension if you are lucky it doesn't roam, if you are unlucky it can bring the whole network to a grinding halt. I know it's awkward because it means you need to manually log into the specific network as you move around, but experience is that they do work in that configuration!

I have the same problem and after 4hrs on the supportline with Vodafone they gave up as they didn't have a clue. I switched to vodafone broadband 4 days ago and deeply regret it.
I have done the following:
1. Factory reset
2. Checked and checked password- I spent an hour with Vodafone telling me to do this.
3. Cant go to mywifiext.net as I cant connect to _ext network. Netgear_ext doesn't appear as an option for networks. Also the web address just comes up as can't connect. This is a circular problem.
The extender worked perfectly with BT and no problems setting it up.
I cannot work in my office at home and I am stick in the kitchen as I need the extender.
Can anyone help...... please as Vodafone cant even though it is a common problem!

3. Cant go to mywifiext.net as I cant connect to _ext network.
Please explain.
To log in to your extender, enter one of the following URLs in your web browser depending on your device:

Thank you
When I go to mywifi.net I get a message'this site cannot be reached'. IP address could not be found.

For a little clarification.
In order to get the mywifi.net address to work, you usually need your WiFi connecting to the extender. If you connect to your WiFi, but not directly through the extender, then you will not be able to get to the setup pages that way. Hence one of the reasons that using the same WiFi name as you main WiFi name can be problematic.
*This also holds true for TP-Link devices and devices from several other manufacturers.

Advice from Vodafone support team is to cancel my contract with them and use a different provider........

Hi
I think we are talking about 2 very different animals.
From a PC you would want to log into your router first? 192.168.1.1
Look for any and all devices that are connected.
Web browser on the INTERNAL network is Windows: http://mywifiext
https://kb.netgear.com/29746/I-can-t-access-www-mywifiext-net-what-do-I-do
You also need the EXTERNAL https://mywifiext.net/ connection.
AND changing ISP is unlikely to solve/resolve the issue, but I could be wrong.

In this case the mywifiext.net is actually captured by the extender - which is why you need to connect directly to the extender (and why it works even if there is no internet connection) - though you are correct that if you can see the extender as being connected to the router you can access it by it's IP address. The problem is that we can't always see the extender as it may be hidden on a different subnet, in much the same way as consumer switches are. Hence the need to pedantically follow the setup instructions.
*For a better explanation see the internet version of https://mywifiext.net

Sorry to be such a pain.
When I go to this page it say:
These instructions apply only to the following extenders:
I have the 2700, which isn't listed. I wonder if this is one of the problems.
It also say it can find DNS - I have no idea what this is or where to find it.
