IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST

The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/contact-us/index.htm

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/

FTTC SETTING         ( FTTP is below FTTC)

The setting is the same for all the routers it's down to the isp (the setting page will be laid out differently but the setting are still the same, eg

Vodafone setting are

Vlan ID - 101

enable 802.1q (not on every router)

Username  - ******@broadband.vodafone.co.uk

Username - ******@businessbroadband.vodafone.co.uk  ( for business customers )

Password - ********

PPPoE

MTU Size : 1492

rest of the setting auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other

TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 AC1200 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual Band (1st Advanced tab, change the Operation Mode to Wireless Router Mode (the ONT is acting as a modem, hence it will not work if you are in DLS Modem Router Mode). 2nd  Do not enable VLAN ID or it will not work! Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

@jaizan

The settings you quote are for DSL (FTTC), nothing to do with FTTP.

Vodafone have given you the details for fttc. Are you on fttc (telephone socket), openreach fttp (white box) or Cityfibre fttp (black box)? Or are you connecting to the vodafone router?

I have Vodafone 900 Mbps FTTP via Openreach.

I am connecting the WAN port of the ASUS router direct to the White Openreach ONT.

[My previous installation has the Vodafone router connected to an older Asus AC router.    However, I want to dispense with all that and have one new Asus AX router connected directly to the ONT]

In that case factory reset the router and enter your login details in the Quick Internet Setup that'll pop up when you first login.

To reset:

Turn the router off. Hold in the WPS button while you turn the router on, and keep it held in until the power light turns off.

Turn off then on again, let it settle, connect via LAN, then login via http://192.168.50.1. Follow the QIS wizard to enter your PPPoE login details, wifi settings, and login details. Username is in the format dslXXXXXXXXX@Broadband.vodafone.co.uk , and the password should be eight characters. No need to mess with VLAN.

If this doesn't get you working then contact vodafone again, via the link below, and make sure to copy/paste the username and password to a text file so there's no mistakes over the number '0' and capital 'O', or number '1', letter 'l' and capital (I). If it's no different from what you already have then it's likely you are making a typo.

Just noticed the capital 'B' in the username in my post. The forum's software messed it up, it should be lower case 'b'

Thank you.   I've tried that.    The first username they gave me did not have an @.
The second and third ones are the same.   They are in the format you specified, except for a small b in broadband.
I tried changing to a large B, but it did not work.
I originally copied and pasted both the username and password from the text message, so there should be no typos.
I also tried typing them in, assuming the third digit is a small letter l and the next nine are all numbers.
Oddly, the router mostly says "disconnected", rather than a more helpful error message.    So perhaps I need to see if it can generate any more helpful error logs.
I'm unplugging the cable from the back of the WAN port in the back of the Vodafone router and plugging it straight into the WAN port on the ASUS router, so that is unlikely to fail.

Edit.  It did not work after following your instructions first time.     But is now running after another reboot.    I'm not sure what the difference is !

Thank you very much for your help!

I have ditched the Vodafone Ultra Hub and extenders after constant reboots. I purchased the Deco XE75 Pro Mesh system, and it was a breeze to set up. The DECO automatically detected the PPPoE connection and just needed the username and password. Surprise, surprise, no dropouts. I was getting fed up with daily dropouts on the Ultra Hub router (garbage) and it was a waste of time speaking to Vodafone support. So highly recomend Deco routers if anyone is looking for a replacement.
