IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST
The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

FTTC SETTING ( FTTP is below FTTC)

Vlan ID - 101
enable 802.1q (not on every router)
Username - ******@broadband.vodafone.co.uk
Username - ******@businessbroadband.vodafone.co.uk ( for business customers )
Password - ********
PPPoE

rest of the setting auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other

TP-Link Archer AC2300 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Gigabit Router (Plug ONT cable into Internet port, run Autodetect > PPPoE > add username/pass = connected at full speed), no need for VLAN IDs
TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 AC1200 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual Band (1st Advanced tab, change the Operation Mode to Wireless Router Mode (the ONT is acting as a modem, hence it will not work if you are in DLS Modem Router Mode). 2nd Do not enable VLAN ID or it will not work! Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

Ok officially being driven insane by this now. Just spent an hour trying to set it up again.
> Original Vodafone router working as usual, Green light on the LAN on the Openreach port thingy
> Plug in new AX3000, green light on LAN immediately goes off
> Log into AX3000 via 192.168.0.1, do all the setup bits and choose PPPoE, enter the VF credentials (which I double checked with them today)
> Dead as a dodo.
> Also tried turning on VLAN, whatever that is, and turning that to 101 and 911, neither made it work
> Changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 as TP Link manual suggested, nothing there either.
Couple of pics here of my setup and the tablet screen.
Any ideas? This should definitely not be this time consuming or difficult.

Your pictures will take a while to be moderated, but in the meantime, there is no way it will work in the LAN light is off.
The LAN light signifies there is an active device connected to the ONT, so are you using the same ethernet cable for both routers and are you definately connecting it to the WAN port on the TP-Link?
20-11-2024 04:17 PM
Yep same cable and into the wan port. Plug the other router in and the LAN light comes straight back on again.
20-11-2024 06:23 PM
Some of your previous pictures are not showing, could you repost them, obscuring any personal details.
Connect the Ethernet cable from the ONT to one of the lan ports and check the LAN light comes on.
20-11-2024 07:13 PM
Yep, LAN light does come on if I plug it into one of the lan ports, but no change in the Internet Connection side of things on the router.

Something tells me you have a faulty router.

@cgfw201 Try VLANID of zero or unset.

Do you know what I should do for VOIP ID and IPTV ID? Have to do all 3 when turn on VLAN.
