clients on the one band being able to talk to clients on the other band! And I'd probably amend "most" to "many". You'd not retransmit everything, but all clients on the network should at least be able to see each other - unless you actively don't want them to be able to!

I agree that if devices on one channel couldn't see device on the other it would cause problems, which is why I'm sure they can, but I will try to confirm it.

Well I have a laptop on the 2.4Ghz and a desktop on 5Ghz and they are able to ping each other so I suppose that proves transmission between the 2 channels. Not sure If I'd call it retransmission.

What a surprise that the "tech guys" couldn't help These ISP change over the odds for their service then provide crappy equipment and treat their customers like idiots Its frankly not good enough More and more devices are becoming "Smart" and use the 2.4ghz band and what do Vodafone do? Remder them inoperable

How ridiculous! I was browsing these forums with the intention of possibly joining Vodafone broadband. I dont like the way Vodafone have taken the choice away from their customers. means i'd have to go and buy my own router to turn off the 5ghz! not cool!

I have the THG3000 router and I can turn of the 5Ghz, but I have to ask, why would you want to?
Edit: Proof it can be turned off.
Main Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz
Main Wi-Fi 5 GHz

Yep, you can switch off 5ghz after "splitting bands".
There are a lot of great things about the Vodafone router bit a few serious niggles for more technical users but I run separate dumb APs anyway on openwrt so these limitations are reduced anyway.

The reason for wanting to switch off the 5ghz as stated originally, was to enable set up of IOT devices on 2.4.
with the booster, 5ghz and 2.4 ghz allocation is automatic.
my phone was being allocated 5, the iots 2.4, hence no set up.
original pixel phone again was automatic allocation
used an older phone, used 2.4 and all ok.
Vodafone tech tech confirmed that with vodaphone mesh booster in system, unable to switch off 5ghz, it is how it is designed.
technicalmarval, hopes this answers your question.

I could think of better words to describe this issue but as there are kids on here. I think I will just says the politics behind blocking wifi channel selection is as bad as the monster raving loony party runing vodafone. Saying that lord sutch would probably make a better job in his current position.

But splitting the the bands would have overcome that, or has that option been removed on Pro?
And surely that is a limitation of the phone not the Vodafone service.
I was really questioning why TechnicalMarvel wants to. (but maybe it's for the same reason)
