When will Vodafone offer FTTP via Openreach?

Openreach has now (finally) delivered FTTP to this rural area since Jan 2020 and thus my property shows up as FTTP available on the Openreach website with capability of "up to 1000Mbps".

However, only BT seems to offer FTTP ("Ultrafast Fibre 900") and Vodafone is only showing up with FTTC products for this area (as of June 2020). Right now on the copper line and with the Vodafone Superfast FTTC product, I am getting 2Mbps (and sporadic and unreliable at that).

As a Vodafone mobile customer (and existing Vodafone broadband customer), I would love to go with Vodafone for FTTP. I can see that Vodafone only seem to offer FTTP via CityFibre (at certain locations), but also see news from various sources that Vodafone will be offering FTTP via Openreach.

When will Vodafone start offering an FTTP product via Openreach, and hopefully offer similar prices to its Gigafast lineup? There are PLENTY of customers who would go with Vodafone if they offered an FTTP product via Openreach. Right now, it seems I would have no choice and would have to go with BT to get the benefits of Full Fibre (of 900Mbps) to the property.

Hey @JamesBand

It can take a while for other providers to take advantage of Openreach's new infrastructure, but the Website is up to date if you keep checking your postcode here

In regards to the City Fibre, we have selected certain cities for installation and you can also check your postcode along with more information here

Openreach went live in my street last week , as an existing vodafone mobile customer and vodafone offering the best deals I was keen to go with them , All the other big suppliers , BT , Sky , EE are all allowing me to sign up now , however vodafone has no availability,  phoned a help line who checked for me and confirmed he couldn't see the availability either , been checking every day since and stumbled on this thread . I was hoping it would only be a few weeks behind the other suppliers but not sure now

You a very optimistic – I’ve been waiting over 4 month now from the moment BT Openreach finished all the work and still Vodafone is saying that it is not available.

BT went live on my line in March last year, Vodafone finally started offering last month but are only offering up to 200Mbps, not the full 900 that the line is capable of

Nearly 12 months and counting, I've switched to BT FTTP and SIP phone via sipbasic. Now just need to wait on my mobile contract to come up and im off fully :Smiling:

Ahh the joys if trying to get a real answer from Vodafone . Im not sure I believe the system update thingvas I'm pretty sure that there are already OR based FTTP users on Vodafone

There definitely are, there have been a few on here lately.

That’s what I thought. They were doing a trial in Liverpool IIRC around 2019.

Well I finally gave up waiting and have signed up with Sky yesterday.

I went with them as I believe FTTP prices will fall over the next year or so and Sky have an 18 month contract (as opposed to 24 months for BT, Zen, etc)

Engineer is booked for Monday 8th ... only 1 week after I placed the order so that's pretty speedy.

So, Vodafone, you have 18 months to catch up ... hopefully you will have reached us out here by then :Smiling:

@Vodafone, I wish I had looked at these posts prior to me spending all that time on the phone and on chat.

Based on my own recent experiences and reinforced by these posts, its evident that Vodafone do not or cannot provide a reasonable answer to the fact that they are generally unable to offer FTTP via Openreach when other providers can.  The response provided which was used to resolve this thread states; It can take a while for other providers to take advantage of Openreach's new infrastructure. However, using examples provided in the thread, this actually translates to; It can take Vodafone a while to take advantage of Openreach's new infrastructure.

I plan to order with EE as they can support my FTTP installation via Openreach right now. And can get the Full Fibre Max 900 package. When this is in I will cancel my Vodafone Superfast package and take the hit on the cancellation charge. I'd rather this than stay, paying the remaining term for a service where I know I can get better speeds because the infrastructure supports it.

It is evident / obvious / not so obvious but implied, that the Vodafone & Openreach challenges are more political in nature than they are technical. A natural assumption, reinforced by this thread is the belief or disbelief in the fact, that Vodafone would choose to throw away custom in this manor.

The unfortunate theme I picked up on as a resolution to this issue, is your customers are leaving and establishing new loyalty with other providers. I would be interested to see the stats on other services they do or do not move later.

That is very true. You will not be able to retain lots of existing customers (or gain as many new ones) if you do not offer Openreach FTTP.
