Buying a phone payg is it sim free

I am looking at buying the moto G 5g but I can't find any information on if Vodafone sim lock phones that are been paid in full on payg (£299 + £10)

I can't get a straight answer if the phone will be locked for 30 days (even thought I paid in full) or sim free 

I understand that contract are locked but payg shouldn't be (can't get a straight answer from any one)

If you are going to buy a phone direct from Vodafone it will come locked to the network.  After one months use you can get the phone unlocked for free here: Unlock your phone or SIM 

If you want an unlocked phone far better to purchase from a third party, also no Vodafone start up screen or unwanted software.
